Explore the quaint village of Antimachia. Step inside its House of Antimachia to see what typical homes looked like in the early 1900s. Beside the house stands the old-world Milos tou Papa windmill.
Head to the outskirts for the hilltop Antimachia Castle, also known as the Venetian Castle. Dating back to the 14th century, these ruins contain churches, cisterns and homes. Enjoy a picnic at this vantage point and check out the views of the sea and nearby islands.
West of Antimachia, find the Hippocrates Garden Cultural Center, which is a replica of a settlement from the 5th century B.C. See the amphitheater and the re-creation of an Ancient Greek house in this fascinating setting. Venture through the nearby Plaka Forest to see peacocks and turtles.

The Iraklides district is now part of the municipality of Kos, but its unofficial boundaries run between the Kefanos Peninsula and the district of Dikeos. Fly to Kos International Airport in the southwestern corner of Antimachia, which is a little west of the center of the island. Drive west from the town of Kos for 14 miles (23 kilometers) to travel here in less than 30 minutes.
With its castle, forest and port, Iraklides is an intriguing destination with varied appeal.
