Kings Road Arches

Facing the beach is a fashionable 19th-century colonnade with a range of restaurants and stores, as well as a museum highlighting Brighton’s fishing past.

The Kings Road Arches is a set of Victorian porticoes containing an array of boutiques and restaurants. These dark red arches have long been a major part of the coastal boulevard. Visit the Kings Road Arches on a sunny summer day to enjoy the fun and lively atmosphere at one of the restaurant tables on the promenade.

Admire the elegance of the redbrick arches, which have a uniform layout. Black poles stretch from the awnings of each arch, presenting the stylish logos of the business here. Visit the various sites for photography, fashion and accessories. Get your hair cut in this iconic spot or search for souvenirs in the independent boutiques.

Enjoy the British seaside’s typical cuisine, including fish and chips, hot dogs and burgers. You should find plenty of seating on the large plaza in front of the arches. Watch the various artists and performers who often congregate in this busy beachside spot. Take photos of the Victorian colonnade, with the exclusive white buildings of Brighton’s higher street level forming a refined backdrop.

Learn about the city’s relationship with the sea in the Brighton Fishing Museum. Restrooms are available at the end of the row of shops.

Rising high above the arches is the futuristic British Airways i360 tower. Ascend to the top in a glassy orb for stunning views of the sea, the city center and the undulating green countryside.

Back on ground level at the arches, stay near the water for the glorious sunset. At night, a range of clubs and bars come alive.

The Kings Road Arches is a little west of the Brighton Palace Pier in the heart of Brighton. Decorating the coastal promenade, the arches stand between the Bandstand and the British Airways i360 tower. From street level, walk down the sloping pathway to reach the beach level. Nearby landmarks include the Regency Square, the Lock In Gallery and the Brighton Centre.
