We had wanted to visit Carcassonne for a long time - the area, and the accommodation, were perfect, and we enjoyed interesting conversations with Richard, who also recommended an excellent restaurant ten minutes' walk away. The apartment is very quiet: all we could hear from the terrace in the evening was the river and water birds; but at the same time it is a short walk up to the mediaeval citadel in one direction, and……
