Chopok, in the Low Tatras Mountains. Chopok is at 2,024 m (6,640 ft) and is the 3rd highest peak of the Low Tatra Range. The views were truly breathtaking from there! Including the meteorological observatory tower covered in snow. But, most of my time in Slovakia was in the High Tatras. The mountains there are even bigger and more epic. I was based in the small city of Poprad and took trips every day. I was in Slovakia in September 2015, too. But this was my 1st time in winter! And with a good camera ;). I also had a wonderful time in Budapest, as well! My very 1st time there. But, while I spent most of my time in the High Tatras I loved being in the Low Tatras! The mountains were absolutely magnificent! And I came to Chopok at a perfect time of day :). The staff were lovely, especially the reception team, who were very welcoming. The same level of friendliness wasn’t always reflected by the housekeeping team, but overall the service was still good. Breakfast was a real highlight — very enjoyable — and the water machines on each floor offering unlimited sparkling, cold, or room-temperature water were a great touch. One thing to note is that the spa and facilities close at 12 each day, which we weren’t aware of in advance, and they also fully close by 9pm in the evening. Additionally, as there were quite a few families with children staying, areas like the gym and spa/swimming facilities could feel a bit busier at times. This may be worth considering if you’re looking for a quieter, more adult-focused environment. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and really enjoyed the view of Giewont from our room. The location of the hotel is excellent — within walking distance of the bus and train stations, as well as the main street, Krupówki.." The kids really enjoyed the cinema. The room was very clean and there was good game rooms and the view outside was to die for. The only bad thing was that you had to carry your skis around 350 meters before you could get to the skiing spot.
