#### Overlooked by luxurious resorts and atmospheric bars, Bora Bora’s southernmost tip is a narrow stretch of lush forest skirted by white sands and cerulean waters.

Experience one of Bora Bora’s most captivating destinations when you visit Matira Point. With its extensive beaches and easy access to waterfront shops, cafés and tour operators, Matira Point is the perfect spot to spend a day in the sunshine. Stay overnight at a resort on the idyllic promontory to get the best position for watching the island’s breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.

Make your way to Bora Bora’s southern point and see the jaw-dropping views that have come to define the island paradise. Look out over impossibly blue lagoon waters to the tropical ocean beyond. Sit beneath the shade of a coconut palm and spend some time enjoying the mesmerizing view.

Wander up the eastern edge of the point to reach one of the island’s finest public-access beaches. The mile (1.6-kilometer) long stretch of Matira Point is a beautiful spot to explore. Swim in the shallow waters or wade across to the barrier reef at low tide. There is a collection of boutiques and gift stores along the point’s interior.

Due to its exposed position, Matira Point can often have a pleasant sea breeze. Try windsurfing or kitesurfing offshore and explore the windswept coastline. If the breeze has dropped, be sure to try canoeing or kayaking in the gentle waters.

Order a cool drink at one of the point’s casual cafés. You can also enjoy an upscale dining experience at one of the waterfront restaurants. Sip a cocktail under the shade of a thatched roof at the beachside bar. At the end of the day, climb the hill that rises from Matira Point to see a breathtakingly beautiful sunset view.

Matira Point is easy to reach by taxi or public transportation. Note that public transit stops and taxi fares increase in the evenings. Stay overnight at one of the point’s gorgeous resorts and laidback villas to wake up to unparalleled lagoon views. Matira Point is free to visit at any time of day.

Le Bora Bora is paradise. Every detail is cared for under the attentive eye of the director, Franc, who is always present. The grounds are immaculate—no stray leaf, perfectly raked sand, and a maintenance team that deserves awards. The food is incredible. Every meal is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, from warm breakfast breads and omelettes to the tuna steak buffet with endless sides—poke, cheeses, yogurts, jams, desserts, and yes, fresh avocado with every meal. The staff is genuinely friendly, always greeting you with a smile and ready to help. Facilities are spotless, with bathrooms and water stations everywhere, offering cold water and fresh juices. Check‑in felt luxurious with scented towels, juice, and a warm welcome. The scenery is breathtaking—not only the crystal lagoons full of fish, but the lush, terraced gardens throughout the resort. Even garden‑view cabanas feel serene and picturesque, with countless peaceful spots to relax. The coral beneath the bungalows was a highlight, attracting triggerfish, needlefish, puffers, parrotfish, stingrays, and our favorite, the colorful Picasso triggerfish. All the staff were wonderful, but special thanks to: Hannaei at breakfast for her sweetness and attention; Lokeni at the pool bar for keeping the energy up; Viana and the concierge/boat team for seamless coordination; Daisy and Desiree at Minki Minki for being a great duo; and Taroararii, who never stops moving and helping.
