The biggest issue was the toilets clogging. We checked in at 4:00pm and by 6pm we had to get help because the toilets were overflowing. I notified the hosts over vrbo chat and maintenance came out (without any notice or response from host which was surprising). The maintenance guy seemed to fix it after snaking the drains for about half hour. Then in the morning the same thing happened again. Maintenance guy came back out. He said it's because we showered and flushed the toilet at the same time. The rest of the stay we were on edge about using the shower and toilet too much. Not exactly something we want to worry about on vacation especially with the kids. Game room is a garage. Hot tub was fine. For how much we paid, I was not satisfied.

Great location and beautiful home! It was a little too chilly to take advantage of the beach, but super close for warmer trips! We had a great stay and recommend to future travelers.

The biggest issues were how dirty the property was: spiderwebs in the kitchen, around the fireplace, mildew on pillows, black mold in the guest bathroom, a layer of dirt on chairs, chairs that were flaking paint, dirty dishes when we arrived, dirty curtains (some sort of white stain), but generally just dusty and dirty everywhere. This is very frustrating when we're already paying a sizable cleaning fee that is clearly not being used effectively.Then there were some additional issues with amenities that were missing: the blender did not work when we arrived. And there were no measuring cups (dry or liquid), which we were told would be present).The toilet stopped working one day and we had to wait overnight for a plumber to come out. During that time we found out that they've had a lot of problems at the property including furnace and the same plumbing issue only a year prior which I guess the underlying issue (roots in the sewage line), have not been fixed.And then there were a lot of strange things done wrong/not prepped correctly that made the stay worse: the nightstand I had was not assembled correctly -- the top lid would just pop right off if lifted at all. When I first arrived, the shower arm flange in the guest bathroom was pulled away from the wall, revealing a large hole into the wall. And in the same bathroom they had installed quarter round trim in the shower itself, which is odd as that is normally something you put on the ground.Bad experience; stay away

Actively flaking paint from chairs. Beware if you have kids.

Amazing location for anyone wanting a short walk to the beach. Safe, nice neighborhood. The house itself is spacious and has many amenities like the game room and hot tub. As a person with sensitive skin, I was happy about the hot tub. It was actually clean and had balanced chemicals. To top things off, the host was a good communicator. I would definitely choose to stay here again.

Good Close Weekend Get Away

We were looking for a weekend get away close to Chicago that could be fun for a young child and teenagers. This fit the bill: close to the beach, shopping, and 1.5 hours from all travelers. The house is about 3.5 blocks from the beach. The beach was awesome - clean soft sand, and great waves. This was a great draw for our teens.The house it self was a good place for playing games, and enough bedrooms for our whole family (including our son’s dog). However, it is dated.

Perfect Getaway

Booked this property for my family in July 2025. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay! The beds are comfortable, beach towels provided, among many other things provided, it was really appreciated so that we didn't have to pack more. Hoping to come back next summer!

Weekend Away

Very nice home. The beds were comfortable, the home was clean, the hot tub was wonderful. The only thing that was disappointing was we were unable to enjoy the game room/garage because of the temperature. If we had known it was not heated we would have brought a small heater with ue.
