A hotel well positioned to visit Iya Valley’s places of interests like the vines bridges (single and double ones), the River Cruise, The Koboke Observation deck and the small peeing monk, etc… There are also many good local F&B. The Kaiseki is good and the morning breakfast is local and fresh. The Onsen is also functional and has both the indoor and outdoor hot pools.

It was probably the worst stay we’ve had. The room smelled bad and was terribly dusty and there was no hot water. The staff were good and helpful but there was nothing they could do. The building is just old, tired and moldy. We had booked for 5 nights but left after one. It was nice of the hotel to refund us the other 4 nights. I’m so glad we left.

Clean and spacious room. Nice view. Onsen a highlight. Lots of options for breakfast. Presentation of dinner was excellent/beautiful, however the fish was dry and the rice was at times mushy. My only real criticism was the unavoidable smell of cigarette smoke.

It’s a nice place

Comfortable place to stay at Oboke, the staff is helpful, much appreciate on the shuttle service between Oboke station and the hotel. The only disappointed is the Wi-Fi service.

The rooms are quite outdated, but I go here for the onsen and beautiful view it offers of the green hills in the gorge area. Hearing the river is an extra bonus. The onsen area is well kept and been remodeled a bit. The rooms need work, but the important points- comfortable bed and good heating/AC unit are great.

Nice one night experience of more traditional inn.

We picked this hotel for a Japanese experience at a hot springs. Which it delivers. So this is a bamboo mat, sleep on the floor on a thin mat type of place for the room we booked. Which is what we wanted for 1 night. Shower is outside with the hot tub. Great views across the river while soaking in the tub. The shower and tub had decent coverage for the rainy day we were there. The dinner is set, with some items that were, uhm, unique for us during our trip. We had lunch at an excellent soba place up river, and the breakfast buffet at the hotel. There isn't much close by so dining options are limited

I had an amazing stay for 2 nights at this beautiful ryokan. I liked the nice, quiet and peaceful atmosphere and the onsen was relaxing. I booked a tatami room with private open bath which was pleasantly enjoyable after a long day of sightseeing and hiking around the mountains. Kaiseki dinner was pretty good, but some times felt a little hungry afterwards. Staff were friendly and kind. I would highly recommend a rental car for transport due to the location. I hope to stay here again and see the beautiful Oboke scenery once again 😊 ありがとうございました。

View of the mountain was great. The outdoor bath was nice. However I felt like the dinner and breakfast halls had rather harsh lighting. Also the room with the bath felt rather expensive considering the experience. If the dinner and breakfast hall could be a bit more cozy and relaxing I think it would go a long way.
