"Oh did we love this spot! Amazing sunrises and sunsets. Kayaking. Nice spot on the dock to enjoy a coffee. Hot tub (which we used multiple times). Not to mention the family cottage vibes that reminded me of our old Northern Ontario family camp that I spent summers at as a child. I would love to return with family one day and enjoy some more time there. The location is wonderful. The space was very clean and the beds were so comfy! Thank you to the hosts for offering such a stunning spot."
Writer’s Retreat. Secluded Waterfront Bras d’Or Lake, Cape Breton
10/10 Excellent
"The cottage is secluded with plenty of wildlife and amazing scenery. We were visited by fox, deer and hummingbirds! The kitchen is well appointed and beds are comfortable. Our host was very responsive to questions before and during our stay. The short walk to the shore leads to a rocky beach with lovely views and awe inspiring sunsets.Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a place to relax and unwind. Make sure to stop for provisions on the way to the cottage as the nearest grocery is about 30 minutes away."
"This is our second year staying there. We loved it . It was very clean, well stocked , easy to check in and check out. And the host was readily available at all times. We are looking forward to a return visit. Also lots of deer and hens to entertain you. I would highly recommend this property. "
Behie House - charming home on the Strait of Canso
10/10 Excellent
"The house was adorable, very comfortable, really cozy and we felt like we were really staying in our own home. It overlooked the bay had great views. Well stock kitchen, comfortable beds, great lawn and really friendly for our dog Luna-- The location was easy to find and easy to get to local beaches and the town of guysboro to listen to music. Plus it was so quiet we could sit on the screen and porch or sit in the garden and just gaze and be very peaceful -- We were especially grateful to the host who handled a minor emergency quickly easily and they made it simple and not a bother at all"
"My stay was perfect. Having spent my summers on the Bras d’Or lake as a child I knew what I was getting with regards to lake (it is clear, warmer than the ocean, salt water —perfect to me!), but this was my first stay at Lakeside Luxury. I booked the cottage which was a great option for privacy, the screened porch was perfect for the mornings and evenings to get away from bugs. The bed was very comfortable and so was the sofa and there were some really great finishes in the cottage to give it a luxury feel but still with the Cape Breton vibes I grew up with. It was so peaceful and I loved spending my days on the private dock and then going back in the evening to get my sunset pictures (Bras d’Or Arm of Gold). The staff were exceptional. I stayed a week so saw them come and go and they checked in periodically to see if I needed anything and were very pleasant. I needed to get away from my life and spend some time alone with just the sounds of rustling trees and the water lapping on the shore and this place was the perfect choice!! Thank you for an amazing vacation!"
Fisherman's Rest House 30 meter distant to beach, sleeps 5
10/10 Excellent
"The house is located in a quaint and picturesque community off the beaten path. There is a lovely ocean breeze that cools the house down in the evening (if you are concerned about no air conditioning). We did not struggle to sleep in the evenings. The host is amiable and visited us as we were checking out. I mentioned that there was no coffee (only tea) and that there was no laundry detergent (to go along with the washer and the coffee maker). I grew up in the area, so I was able to find these items, but he thanked me for updating him and assured me this is something he would address. This was minor because the rest of the amenities were excellent. The beach is great for an evening stroll and there is ample sea glass for the beach combers out there. Overall, we loved our stay at the Fisherman's rest house. "
