Outdoor Enthusiasts, Nature Lovers, and those Seeking Solitude...

Just 31 minutes west of St. Ignace (Mackinaw)you will turn down the winding drive, and experience the quiet calm of Michigan's North Country at its finest. This gem, up one flight of stairs, is secluded, private, and spacious. Nestled in the trees on 3+ acres with over 250'+ of private beach on the sparkling North Shore of Lake Michigan.

National and State Forests to the East provide a thriving habitat for Bald Eagles, Sand Hill Cranes, and Deer which wander past your window as you take in the spectacular view of the lake. Settle in for the evening by a cozy fire and listen to the the gentle sounds of Lake Michigan lapping at the shore, but don't fall asleep until you've taken in the stars through the six sky lights above.

Within an hours drive, you can visit lighthouses, waterfalls, and historic forts. Sault St Marie (Soo Locks), Mackinaw City (shopping, theaters, fort, and new water park), St. Ignace (gambling, shopping, and museums),Mackinac Island, Lake Superior (Whitefish Point Lighthouse, Tahquamenon Falls, one hour North) are highlights that will make your trip memorable. One of the best kept secrets is the Cut River located just minutes from our property. This natural gorge provides a wonderful hike as well as picturesque view of the lake.

Meander down the back country roads and perhaps you will catch a glimpse of Bear, Moose, Wolf, Deer, Bald Eagles, and many smaller critters. There are miles of trails to explore by foot, horseback snowmobile, or four-wheel ATV. If fishing interests you, fly-fish some of the finest steelhead and brook trout streams anywhere (we support 'catch-and-release'... or 'clean-on-the-river'...).

Just four miles to the east are two restaurants and to the west enjoy the small fishing village of Naubinway where fresh Whitefish is caught/sold daily. If you've not experienced, the world famous 'U.P. Pastie', stop by any of the roadside shops who advertise... You are sure to fall in love with this Northern Michigan novelty. Groceries, gas, and antique shops are readily available within a short drive.

Very enjoyable stay
Our first trip to this area. The loft was adorable and had everything that we could have needed. There was a change in ownership between the booking and the use of the loft so the few issues we did have were addressed with the new owner, Nikki, who was wonderful to deal with. This is a loft so if you are tall, you really need to be careful about hitting your head in certain areas. This unit does not, at this time, have air conditioning so if it is a hot day, it can get toasty up there. There are plenty of fans and the windows are plentiful so that helped. Also the windows provided such a great view of the pretty to lay in bed and see the stars and hear the lake and wildlife. The beach is lovely, but as now noted in description, shared with the lodge building located on the same premises and rented separately. Was not a problem for us but could be if the lodge was occupied by a rowdy group. Overall I would recommend the loft and if you need a great place for a large group, rent both buildings!

5/5 Excellent

Beautiful location!
Cedar Loft is much more spacious that we anticipated. The beach is literally perfect with sandy bottom & no rocks! And just a few steps from the loft :)

Little getaway
The loft was great. It was very private and right on the water. We had everything that we needed and little stores that were close. We will be back again!!!!

Cozy Beachside Loft Apartment
Overall, my husband I did enjoy our stay at Cedar Loft. We vacationed here to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. The new property owner Nikki was curtious and polite. The loft apartment was clean, cozy, and was stocked with lots of ammenities. This actually came in helpful when we accidentally forgot to pack a few items. The beach front is lovely & the view from the picture window was gorgeous. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves most nights was wonderful & we really enjoyed walking the beach as well. My only disapointment during our stay at Cedar Loft was that I had specifically tried to choose a vacation spot that was private & secluded with no other cabins/houses or major roads within close distance. From the photos listed on vrbo & my communication with the previous property owner, I was under the impression that Cedar Loft was more secluded than what it was, so was fairly disapointed when we pulled in and the main house was directly across from the Loft. The Loft itself is located off of US 2, so unfortunately, we did hear the highway traffic as well. It is a nice beachside vacation spot, with lots of great outdoor attractions within an hour driving distance, but just not the spot for a secluded, private UP vacation getaway like I had hoped for.

UP Paradise
Had a great week at the loft. Whitefish point is an easy drive to see the falls and the shipwreck museum. Plenty of places to fish if you hunt for them.. The loft is very spacious for two people. You can buy fresh fish in town. The beach is vast and there are many places nearby for even more. You will not run out of beaches!! very nice getaway!
