Clean room, we upgraded to one with 2 beds, double and single. Nice view of the balloons from our balcony in the early morning. Good breakfast, lots of choice.
Great location, excellent breakfast so much on offer, we had a basement double basic room very spacious and very efficient air con booked two nights stayed for four
The room and the bathroom are spacious. The double bed is big and comfortable. During winter there’s heaters in the room to keep it cozy. We stayed for 2 nights and would have stayed longer if we could.
Fantastic little hotel right in the center of Goreme, known for Balloons. Chetan (manager) was very helpful and pleasant. Security is good and everything was comfortable. Breakfast was good, staff very kind. Great stay!!
Lovely hotel near the centre of the town. Room good, breakfast amazing for Turkey. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Some properties adjacent to the hotel are industrial. We did DIY tours by ourselves with Ahmet a really helpful and informative taxi driver.
From the moment I booked our 2 rooms at this hotel, the manager kept in touch with me to ensure our arrival and stay in Goreme had a smooth transition and start to a wonderful vacation!
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and accomodated our every need.
We had an issue with our sink filling up, but they were able to fix it relatively quickly.
The location of this hotel is great! Theres plenty of shopping right up the hill, and all the attractions with tours can pick you up right at the door of this hotel because of how central it is!
Buffet breakfast was great! The manager even gave us to-go breakfast sandwiches and juiceboxes to eat on our way back to the airport, which was such a thoughtful touch to our overall stay at Shoestring Stone House!
I would book this place again in the future.

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
The staff was exceptional. The buffet excellent. Our room had some issues with the bathroom ONLY. The shower walls had black mold, the drain was sliw to empty, thw water flooded the whole room and the hair dryer did not work. In defense of the managenent, we were offered another room, but since our sray was only 2 days we declined. Good location. the bathroom ONLY. THE S
The room was beautiful and very comfortable, temperature was nicely warm. The shower was nice but it sprayed water through the hose. Wi-Fi was sometimes unstable. Breakfast was great. In general it was an amazing stay; however, although all the staff was incredibly nice, the manager tries hard to sell you their tours - he even gave us wrong information (for example, he told us it was impossible to get to the underground cities by public transports; we ended up taking a public bus there which was super easy!)
Prompt check-in, helped us book for the balloons. Property was clean and spacious. The restaurant was upstairs which I had thought is a rooftop but there was no rooftop. Breakfast was traditional Turkish was nice.
The issues we had was leaking jet bath, water stopped running mid shower and the next morning we had no water until like 8am (apparently due to some local town issues).
However, the night staff Aghora really did go out his way to help us. He gave a wiper for the leak, he sorted the water issue initially, in the morning 5am he failed to sort the issue again but gave a bottle of water to wash with for prayers. He really did try his best with every issue we had.
That is why overall it’s a 4*
Carpark area right outside. The town/restaurants all 10 mins walking distance.
The place is comfortable and reasonably well located. The breakfast, chef and cleaning staff were very good and attentive. Be careful not to confuse hotels - there is the Shoestring CAVE house and the, separate, Shoestring Stone house. At a guess the stone house may have been named to pick up confused bookings from the cave house. It also confused the local tour and balloon operators we dealt with so …. The only real blight on the stay was our effort to have some laundry done. The sign on our room said 120 TL to wash. The first person in the office said they don’t do washing; the second one said they do, but it costs 200TL and the sign is old. We paid the 200Tl (washed and dried). It can back wet, although some effort to dry it was apparent; we took it back to have it dried and again it came back wet (although drier). We took draped it around as best we could to dry it. When we mentioned it on the way out, we were told (at first) that it was dry and we couldn’t tell because it might have been warm, then it was ‘okay, some of it is wet but not all of it, etc etc. Only an incident, but says a lot about the attitude in the front office. We’re it not for the employed staff this rating would have been more severe.
We really enjoyed our time here! The hotel itself is fairly small and quiet which is nice after a day out in the sun. We were up staying here because we were kicked out of our original hotel but this hotel is a much better option than the Azaela Terrace Hotel. I would recommend everyone to stay at Shoestring! The staff are kind and puppy in reception is very cute and loves pets.
The property was convenient for our trip. We slept well and the bathroom was spacious. Bathroom towels were a bit torn and the bed cover had a hole. When bathrooms are used in other areas, the pipes make a long whistling sound. Overall a good stay but the experience for future guests can be improved.
We got so sick from the toxic mold in the hotel room. It’s such a cute hotel but this is a really big problem there, as most of the rooms smell like mold and mildew, but ours was especially moldy and had visible signs of mold inside the bathroom cabinet, on the ceiling, and on the walls. We suffered from flu-like symptoms due to the mold, and repeatedly felt a lot better as soon as we left the hotel and were out in the fresh air for some time. We brought our concerns to the attention of the hotel owner, but he refused to let us check out early and receive a refund. Really not a good experience for us. Aside from the mold, there was trash around the outside of the hotel, and the noise late at night and early morning kept waking us up. We do not recommend this hotel to others until the owner makes some much-needed improvements.
