Customs House is in an impressive old building just on the edge of the downtown area. Rooms have very high ceilings, fabulous trim and a grand (nonworking) fireplace. Very much enjoyed my 2 night stay there and would return again. There was no contact with staff but the check-in was smooth.

The exterior of this building needs more presence for an inn. It looked liked an empty commercial building. The door off the waterfront side is not the main entrance - it is at the rear, off the parking lot. A small sign naming the hotel is at the entrance of the narrow driveway. At the very least it should be lit at night, A welcome sign should be added and some flower urns placed at each side of the door (even if they are fake). The front door could easily be enhanced with paint. However, once you get inside it is much better, Our room was spacious and decorated nicely. It had very high ceilings and an ornate fireplace, . The bathtub was the most comfortable tub I’ve encountered on this trip, It is also large and could easily accommodate a stool to put your clothing on rather than the floor and some extra shelving to hold a second toiletries case would be nice. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet. Close to restaurants on the waterfront, My minor recommendations would not be expensive and I think would gain the inn more business. Our car was the only car in the parking lot and I suspect we were the only guests. Our room was 1c and on the first floor. Didn’t notice an elevator so that might be a consideration in terms of requesting a first floor unit.

We really appreciated our stay at the Customs House Inn. The room was exactly as shown in pictures, the bed was extremely comfortable and I particularly enjoyed the bathtub! The Inn is close to all amenities and yet very quiet. The inn keeper Doug was really available and kind. Highly recommend!

This is an old building that has been wonderfully converted to a small B&B. It is beautifully done, very clean and comfortable. It is in walking distance of the waterfront with options for meals, even in the shoulder season. It is an interesting place to stay and a nice change of pace from a big hotel.
