Where to stay

in Plano

On the outskirts of Dallas, Plano is a city in its own right, not just a suburb or neighborhood of its larger sibling. It's best known as the place where the Plano Balloon Festival happens each September. Nearly 100,000 visitors pour in to see the magnificent sight of 40 hot air balloons simultaneously taking flight. At other times of the year, Plano's hotels are more relaxed and affordable, offering a pleasant alternative to accommodations in the heart of Downtown Dallas. A stay here also provides opportunities to spend an uncrowded evening at a growing number of great local restaurants and enjoy the town's shopping scene at a leisurely pace.

Great Neighborhoods for Activities

Stay in Historic Downtown Plano for eating, drinking, and shopping. Budding train-spotters can also stop at the Interurban Railway Museum, which teaches little ones about the Texas Electric Railway. Those interested in more commercial pursuits should check out accommodations near The Shops at Willow Bend, which include a Neiman Marcus and a Macy's. Stay near The Shops at Legacy, a high-end shopping spot with adjacent hotels. For golf, reserve a room farther north near The Courses at Watters Creek. The Traditions Course is particularly beautiful, weaving beneath red oaks and cedars.
