Room wasn't vacuumed

The location of this property was excellent, right in the centre of Rundle Mall. The property itself is tired and in need of a refurbishment. The rooms were sort of clean, with the bathroom and toilet needing a good scrub. HOWEVER, on check in, a $50 a night security deposit 'for incidentals' was taken, even though there was no mini bar in the room. I checked out over a week ago, and this deposit has still not been refunded! Also on check out they said it would not be refunded until house keeping confirmed there had been no damage to the room. This was not explained at check in. I was staying in the hotel with my 90 y.o. mother who even straightened the bed before we checked out. There was no damage to the room. I have stayed in hotels all around the world, this is the first time a hotel has said they would check for damages before refunding a deposit. Totally unimpressed. I have called the hotel, they are 'looking into it'. No apology for the delay in refunding my $150.
