“Rustic hotel accommodation right on beach, 10 minute drive out of Arugam Bay. Tuk Tuk accessible. Basic accommodation with wifi only in verandah of our unit (11), and in dining area. Lovely atmosphere and staff are very accommodating and friendly. Loved their Sri Lankan meals. It’s not 5 star hotel but the staff make up for it. ”
“Do not believe the “luxury” marketing — a neglected, freezing, disorganised stay
We booked Kottukal Beach House expecting the “luxury boutique villa” experience advertised. What we got was closer to an abandoned property. There is no sign on the gate, so we drove straight past it down the dirt road and had to double back — other reviewers have mentioned similar difficulty finding the place, but a hotel charging luxury prices should not require a treasure hunt.
