Beautiful retreat out of busy Siem Reap with one free tuk-tuk return journey into town each day. We were upgraded on arrival to a fantastically spacious room and the owner dealt brilliantly with our lack of planning the airport pick up (an email request was sat in my outbox).
Set about 10km outside the main center of Siem Reap, Angkor Rural Boutique provides a peaceful setting to relax and experience local hospitality. And talk about excellent hospitality! I had contacted the property ahead of our stay to see if they could do anything special for my partner as we were arriving on his birthday. The positive response from Sokun and her team was beyond anything I could have hope for to make the day special. Upon of arrival, we were served refreshing glasses of passion fruit juice then shown to our upgraded honeymoon suite- decorated with flowers, towel animals and a happy birthday banner. This wonderful welcome was then made even better by a special, romantic birthday dinner served on the upper level of the resort's dinning patio. The three-course meal was absolutely delicious and topped off by the presentation of a birthday cake!
I'll echo the comments made by other reviewers that what makes Angkor Rural Boutique truly special is its wonderful, smiling staff. Their kindness, warmth and charm made our stay one to remember!
We were fortunate enough to stay here for 3 nights, while exploring the temples of the Siem Reap area.
Having come from Phnom Penh, we decided that a quiet rural location would be a welcome change. As it proved to be. We found the Lemongrass suite ( a renovated old Khmer building ) to be spotless and very comfortable, with its luxury bedding, rain shower and ceramic shampoo/conditioner vessels. The grounds were stunning, with the many edible and exotic garden plantings, and a pool setting like no other. After a long, hot day of walking around temples, it was an oasis-like setting, with the water just refreshingly cool. Certainly the best part of the experience though, was the staff. Although the owner Sokun Ang was absent for most of our stay, her young 18 yr. old employee Dalpreet was truly special. When I informed her that it was my husbands birthday during our stay, she went above and beyond to make our dinner that evening special. She set a table in the garden, created some decorations, and organized a personalized birthday cake. The food was excellent - especially the Unforgettably Fragrant Chicken, which we had 2 of the 3 nights. All of the staff were very attentive, and we loved the experience of the countryside. We only wish that we could have had some time to chat with Sokun who created this special place.
We stayed here on the recommendation of friends and were so glad that we did. It is rural and away from the hustle and pollution of Siem Reap. Sokhun and her husband are such gracious hosts and the new hotel is very luxurious in its size and amenities. The bed was very comfortable, the walk in shower spacious. There is a very inviting tub in the large room. Air conditioning was excellent, important after a hot day of seeing Angkor Wat. Restaurant was excellent, food fresh, with everything made to order. There is a lovely pool and a new, larger pool and spa are being built.
The hotel provides free pick up and return to the airport, and a free shuttle to the city from 5-10 pm. We were able to hire tuk-tuks with drivers for $20/day to tour the Wats. They always had water on ice, again important due to the mid 90 temperatures. We even had a lovely oxen cart tour of the neighboring farms.
We stayed here for 5 nights and had a peaceful time.
This place is situated little far from the Siem Reap city, but calm and cozy place for having a rest.
The young staff are very friendly and helpful.
We had a great time while walking around nearby village.
Thanks to the Sokun who made us feel so welcome!
Exactly what I was hoping for and exactly as advertised. Staying at Angkor Rural Boutique was so luxurious and a big part of the reason I enjoyed my time in Cambodia so much. The owners and staff are there to help with every part of your stay, above and beyond with everything. The lodging itself is a blend of old Khmer architecture with modern comfort. The food is phenomenal. I did the oxen village tour with them and hired a tuk tuk driver to visit Angkor Wat in the mornings. The owners are innovative, forward-thinking and focused on how to help their own community as well. One of the best places I have stayed anywhere in the world.

Good for country side lover
Stayed three nights looking for escape from the busy Siem Reap city. It is located about 25mins away by Tuk Tuk from the center of town. Rooms are basic and can be quite dim at night. Air conditioning is marginal in the afternoon. The swimming pool gets very warm because it is quite small.
Service Is good and you truly feel like staying in a country side guest house.
Very friendly and helpful staffs. Free airport/bus station pick-up.
Free return-trip by tuk tuk to downtown once every day.
Surrounded by tranquil village and paddy, away from touristy Siem Reap downtown.
Will stay there again.
Love the design of the room, love the people in the village, love the cows. :)) owner is a very nice person, great hospitality.
Few suggestions are: 1) pillow is too high and hard for me. 2) hot shower and bath water doesn't keep constant temperature, but I guess that's usual for rural area. 3) few variety of lunch/dinner selection, yet the tastes are good. The taste of pineapple is superb!!! Ingredients are all from the village, totally organic! Breakfast is fantastic! Best fried rice ever!
I really love the tranquil atmosphere and serenity of this hotel. Definitely recommend to my friends.
The owner just started helping village kids to learn English, and maybe will start to launch a painting class soon. So if you plan to stay at Angkor Rural Boutique for your next trip, you may want to bring some school supplies and painting supplies for the children.
Sokun Ang, the Cambodian owner and creator of this resort, is an amazing person, her staff is incredibly warm and friendly, and her resort was the nicest one I have ever stayed in. If you like Italian-style Agriturismo or Taiwanese-style Minsu, you will love her resort. You get your own bungalow located in a beautiful picturesque, rice-farming village just outside of Siem Reap. Also included is a 15 minute complimentary tuktuk ride back and forth to Siem Reap. I highly recommend renting bikes from Ms. Ang and riding around the area. An experience of a lifetime! Plus, you are directly helping Cambodians by supporting this business.
This hotel is perfect for those who prefer a quiet location amidst nature and yet a good access to all Angkor sites. The staff is exceptionally friendly and provides thoughtful arrangements and a very personal service. A great stay!
