We came to this hotel after having to leave Gran Ventana. While this was definitely much improvement from that hotel, the cleanliness here is rather lacking. I even thought maybe they don’t have cleaning staff on Sundays when we checked in. The pool was dirty - cups everywhere, hair floating- a lot of hair. The hallway of our building (#11) was strewn with garbage- again hair balls, clothes tags, leaves. It was like that when we arrived and also Monday despite there being a swarm of cleaning staff around. There’s also some broken down water cooler in the first floor that just looks like garbage. Our bathroom was not clean- shower and sink had hair and other debris-maybe shampoo residue? The drawers also had hair and clothes tags, mirror was dirty…beds seemed clean. Buffet restaurant can also use cleaning in between guests, crumbs and sugar packets and generally dirty tables. This though you can tell was because guests had left recently - it didn’t seem caked on. I’ve stayed at Hodelpa properties before and cleanliness is one of the reasons I chose to stay at this property since it’s Hodelpa but this is not what is to be expected from this chain. Please up your cleaning game. Otherwise the property is more modern, the a la carte restaurants are wonderful. Buffet is meh but I think that’s to cater to perhaps a wider range of people with blander palettes, this is a tourist town after all.

I really was looking forward to writing a good review on Emotions by Hodelpa Resort in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. because it was recommended to me. The first impression was terrible because you are greeted by the drabbest, poorly decorated lobby that I have ever seen.  The staff didn't seem to be too happy, it felt like they were doing you a favor and sometimes an unsatisfied attitude transpired in theire service. I do not know what the problem is but they seemed always to have a negative attitude to whatever you ask them to do.  On the other hand, the resort is okay and well kept, very nicely laid out and the rooms are fine. The beach, incredible,  but the service on the beach was nonexistent.   The food was very good in two of the restaurants, the Italian was the best and Mexican coming in second place.  Sadly to say the Dominican (Oregano)  restaurant which we had high expectations for did not come up to par. Food seemed to be leftovers. It was cold and was not truly Dominican.   The best service was at the Italian restaurant.  The worst at the Dominican restaurant. The buffet food was good but the service was not good. Overall, the experience was not good, I do not recommend this hotel. There were three people who made our stay nicer and less, stressful and I want to give them a shout out:  Waldy Rosario at Guests Services, who with his positive attitude held our hand through a cancelled flight ordeal and went as far as to giving me his personal cell phone number

The customer service was horrible. They didn’t even helped us with our luggage when we arrived. The front desk was not informative, I had an issue with registration name and they didnt helped us. In addition to that the room didn’t have a table, when asked they said that the room doesn’t come with table. We had a Swim up. The food was not good. I will not recommend, when you go and pay is because you want to feel comfortable.

El personal pésimo el hotel súper sucio mi cuarto cuando llegue el toilet estaba tapado ósea y con basura de otros la comida súper mala service al cliente en la recepción pésimo comida horrible en fin no lo recomiendo en lo absoluto dinero perdido

The staff was great and very cordial for the most part, except for a female emolument at the coffee shop. Two days in a row she was not pleasant to be around.

Food could’ve been at oregano..the chivo didn’t taste like chivo more like beef and the mofongo was bland no flavor ..this was a restaurant that you need reservations too

The resort was quiet for the most part, except on the weekends. There were not too many rooms occupied. The staff was very friendly all Across, except The staff at the Dominican. The service there was poor slow. My husband has to serve water and wine twice himself. The quality of the food was very poor and that was the restaurant that we were expecting to eat the entire week and that it was close due to poor reservations. There is a Lack Activities In the common areas, and the ones done are very poorly performed or entertaining. The room I was assigned the first night when I got there 2 o’clock in the morning was not ready and they have to reassigned me to another room I couldn’t take a hot Shower until the third time I reporter( On the third day) The last night and the day that I was leaving, there wasn’t Hot water either. The room has two leaks in the bathroom from the roof and one in the closet at total disaster.

Food was less than average. Only had hot water 2 days out of seven. Bathroom ceiling and closet leaked water. Staff was wonderful but the staff and service at Oregano rest was really bad. Will not come back and will not recommend
