Also the church Hallgrímskirkja is only 500m away. Harpa the cocert hall is only 850m away. So the location is excellent. The house is located in the heart of Reykjavík. The home includes everything for a comfortable stay, washing machine, free high speed wi-fi, television, and a fully equipped kitchen Bedrooms offer one queen size bed and two separate single beds that can be pushed together. The apartment is considered for 4 guests. The apartment is only in a 4 min walk from Laugavegur, known as the main shopping street in Iceland, also has a great variety of bars, restaurants, cafés, Icelandic design and gift stores. Helga was wonderful to work with and was very responsive to my emails. The second bedroom is behind the first one and requires you to walk through it. The beds were comfortable and it was always warm and cozy with plenty of hot water. You can’t beat the location.However, there are a few things that I feel were not represented well in the listing that I would want others to be aware of before booking.There is no dryer. There is a washing machine so I assumed there would be a dryer. This may not seem important but we were a family of four who packed light believing we could frequently wash our clothing. Washing a small load of clothes and then hanging everything on a drying rack that took up half the living room and waiting 12 hours for it to dry (we visited in November) wasn’t ideal. The hot tub is in the front yard area and is not filled and heated unless requested ahead of time (which we didn’t know because there is no house manual and Helga didn’t get back to me in messages for a couple days) and they were also not available to fill it on Saturday and Sunday because they were out of town. So we never used the hot tub. The listing said there is an indoor pool but I wasn’t able to locate it and Helga never answered my question about it.There is no dishwasher as was stated in the listing.There is a very limited amount of towels/washcloths availableThe twin bedroom is in the back of house so to get to the rest of the house you have to walk through the main bedroom, which makes intimacy difficult. Helga, thank you so much for hosting my friends and I. We had a blast exploring Iceland and knowing we had such a lovely place to come home to at night was comforting. Pictures do not do this place justice. It’s such a large apartment and plenty of space for everyone. Helga provided everything we needed and she let us check in early as well as check out late. She was very accommodating and answered our messages so promptly. The location of this property is just perfect. Right in the middle of the city and a short walk to wherever we needed to go. The property was very clean, and nicely decorated. The property was well furnished, for a group of 4 people, but could use some small microwave dishes. The hostess was very friendly, helpful, and a wonderful resource for anyone visiting Iceland Some minor points: 1) There is no private parking at the property, but I suspect this is not unusual in central Reykjavik. Public parking on the street or a parking area in front of the property was always available and at a nominal cost. 2) Remember to bring eye shades for sleeping if you plan to visit during the Iceland summer, as it never gets dark outside, and it never gets completely dark inside the apartment. We were there for the summer solstice, and I am a light sleeper.
