"Everything was wonderful. The beds are very comfortable. The view is beautiful from our room. We liked the craft beer they sell at the reception office. My only complaint is Min Americans have tattoos. We would like to use the spa service without being embarrassed by the warning, and without prejudice. Clearly tattoos are not associated with criminal behavior in most countries. Thank you so much."

"Im glad i booked a room with outdoor hot tub. I loved japanese rooms that consist of spacious view side and tatami floor; my room had split toilet and shower stall as well, which is massive plus bc i dislike UnitBath system. Lounge access was great with local specialty beverages and snacks. The premise has so many retails and entertainment places. The buffet offered wide varieties that went beyond my expectations. Overall, one if the best establishments in Kinugawa. The outdoor bath on the highest floor was massive plus. "

"This is modernized facility that offers so many services and events on site. I enjoyed dining services on specific hours, and structures of this facility were astonishingly beautiful. My only issue was that the Japanese-western style room that i booked had mediocre view from window that kinda ruined the value of money. "

"Wonderful place to stay in the Nikko area. This is a small hotel of 15 rooms overlooking lake Chuzenji. You either make a bus from Nikko station or a have a car to drive up the mountain. There are lots of walks to do in this area and the Kegon waterfall is very impressive. The rooms are spacious and was in the western style. The staff were incredibly friendly and nothing was a hassle. We had breakfast and dinner included which I would recommend. The breakfast had a variety of both western and eastern dishes. The dinners were in the kaiseki style and were fabulous. With beautiful fresh ingredients. They also inquire as to any food allergies and cater the meal to that. Could not ask for a better place to stay. "

"I should have booked 2 nights to really enjoy! Everything was excellent. My 1st time in Japan and this was lovely. Staff checking me in spoke great English. I booked a huge tatami room and had a balcony overlooking the river. There is a turn-down service while you’re at dinner. Buffet was fantastic and the whiskey was not watered down at all! Definitely try the sesame ball things for desert. There are clear English instructions on how to use the onsens and an app that shows you how crowded they are in real time. Wonderfully comfortable sleeping here. I’d love to stay 2 nights in the future, maybe check out Edo Wonderland. The hotel gift shop is a good place to buy nicer, regional souvenirs. Excellent customer service: 100 out of 10. Just watch a couple videos on how the limited express trains work & the Kinugawa hotel busses & you’ll be fine. "

"The walk to the station was about 9 minutes but besides that the room was great. It supplied every need. I asked the wife how long the hotel had been opened since everything was like new but she didn’t know. Everything comes with remote control including heated floors and was very modern. I was impressed. If you are looking for a VERY comfortable stay in Nikko this is the choice."

"Superior Room: lovely big space, with western style beds and traditional tatami mat lounge area that can be sectioned off by sliding panels. Aircon a little bit iffy, but mostly worked with a bit of fiddling about, supplemented by opening windows a bit. Quiet, even with windows open – just the soothing sound of the river. Lovely bathroom with twin wash basins, and private shower and lovely hot onsen bath on a private balcony. Large key locked safe in room. Comfy beds with two pillows available for each. Elaborate Japanese style dinner and breakfast. Staff were very helpful with some English language skills. Great location close to temples and shrines, and also near a bus stop that goes to Kegon falls and nearby ropeway. Also is only a short distance from the Shinkyo Bridge and the northwest end of town. Coffee machine instructions only in Japanese, and Google Translate of them not entirely helpful – had to look up instructions in English on the interweb and YouTube. Only small criticism: no power outlets by beds to charge your phone."

"The owner of the pension is incredibly kind and nice. The facility feels like you're staying in Europe too within the aesthetics of Nikko. I also really enjoyed the steak dinner and the owner and his wife really know how to spice a steak! "

"The beds were very thin mats on the floor with the worst pillows ever and terrible duvets, more like a quilt in an exposed duvet cover. The room was large but empty. After a long day of taking multiple trains I could have cried. It was pretty much like sleeping on the floor, with sketchy bedding, two sparse threaded towels, the toilet didn’t flush very good and the bidet sprayed water on the floor. It was the worst room I’ve ever stayed at and yet paid $370 Yen for one night. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!!"

"Everything was great except it was very disappointing that we couldn’t buy anything from the vending machine as it doesn’t cater to tourists. It needed a Japanese mobile number to sign up and buy things, and obviously we couldn’t. We called the staff several times and even asked if anything else could be done but there wasn’t much help and effort to try and resolve. "

"I found this Onsen and an excellent offer from Expedia. I wasn’t sure what to expect at such a low price and some mixed reviews. I loved it here and it exceeded my expectations. I dropped off my luggage early and walked the area until check in. Since it is across the river and a bit of a walk from the train station, it was so peaceful and beautiful away from others. I found a town footpath that overlooked the river gorge, a suspension bridge, and interesting decaying resorts from the economic boom downfall of the 90’s. A photographers’ paradise. The resort seems to be going through a renovation. The room was very large and had living spaces with tatami mats. Oh yes, your room key opens a wooden locker near reception for you to place your shoes- wear socks. Beds were not futons but mattresses on floor. The mini fridge was great. I didn’t even use the bath in the room because the onsen was clean and wonderful. An outdoor bath looks out on a wooded area and is divine. The shower area has great hair and soap products. I had difficulty finding it at first because the instructions are a bit vague with arrows, but if you look for the out building next to and behind you’ll find it easily. Had to walk on plywood boards placed for the renovation and a rock path up to step so be aware. Yukata and slippers are provided. There are two massage chairs and multiple vending machines. I highly recommend staying here. "

"Restaurant and housekeeping services were exceptional. Hotel is well maintained and the front desk check in process was quick and friendly. Room peaceful and quiet with great views of mountain side and lake. Recommend 4th floor if possible. 403 was a great room and lots of amenities (e.g., cups, tea pot, robes, phone plugs, etc.). Osen. bath 1st floor was very clean too. Bikes available. Parking for rental cars. Small gift shop and vending machines with food options. Must get breakfast and dinner option. The food and service is excellent. "

"Everything about the property and my stay there was magical and beautiful. It’s very remote and hard to get to but very much worth it. The only drawback is not having much time to explore the town but if you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city there’s not much better. "
