We arrived a little early and contacted Steve via VIRBO and he informed us that the property had been cleaned and allowed us to start our vacation before check in time. This is huge if you have two young kids who have been in the car for a long trip. One of the hot tub deck steps came loose and he had it fixed the next morning. I would say reviews of the house from previous guests were accurate and if you’re looking for a quiet beach house, this is a good one. There are great ocean views on most of the deck. The pool was pretty private and provided a nice spot for everyone to hang out. There were three adults and two children on our trip and we felt that we had plenty of room. If I’m ever back in Rodanthe, I would book this house again.

This was our second year returning to Island Time. The house’s proximity to the beach is incredible, loved the view from the deck & my kids loved the pool. Communication with the owner was a breeze & we can’t wait to book our 2026 vacation. Thanks so much!

My family vacationed at this property in Rodanthe for a week. We were looking for something that was pet friendly, with a pool and close to the beach. This property checked all those boxes PLUS had a hot tub! Lots of porch space for the dogs, we loved the screened in porch area and even had food and water bowls for the dogs there. We did bring our own crates as the property didnt have any, but the rooms are spacious enough for a XL crate. The pool was great and has tons of extra floats and accessories. Pool area was fenced in so the dogs could hang with us there too. Very short walk to the beach and pier. Property has lots of parking. The porch swing was nice and theres a table downstairs for outside eating. Has a charcoal grill and fish cleaning station. Upstairs porch gives a great sunset view of the sound. There were 7 of us who stayed comfortably at this home. We will definitely book here again when staying in Rodanthe.

Awesome home and location!

The home was so comfortable and beautiful. The location and distance from beach was perfect! We played ping pong, corn hole, and used the pool every day. Looking forward to coming back!The owners were so accommodating and on anything we needed. Who could ask for more??!! Thank you again.

We had an awesome vacation in this home. We loved the pool and the house has all the amenities you could need and is super close to the beach. Very clean. Plenty of yard for the dogs. Beds are comfortable. We would definitely love to come back!

Excellent experience again

This is the 3rd time my family has stayed at this house as it never disappoints! The house has plenty of space and most everything you'd need for your trip. We especially enjoyed the pool this year as it was so hot and the pool was so refreshing. It is so close to the beach (1-2 min walk), so you can go down to the ocean for a bit and back to the house when you need a break from the sun. The decks are wonderful and we enjoyed the views. Overall, I would recommend this house for location, amenities, the awesome owners, and affordability. Thanks for another great stay!

Beach Bliss!

The home was exactly as listed. The layout is perfect with plenty of space inside and out. It was very clean and well kept. We used a local company that delivers and picks up beach chairs, beach umbrella and beach cart. This was a great way to haul everything back and forth to the beach.

Island Time was just as great as all of the other reviews stated! Quiet location close to the beach, and convenient to grocery shopping for your week's needs. The house is clean, well decorated, and the beds are comfortable. Probably the most well-equipped kitchen I've seen in a house that size. Steve was super-responsive to messages, and had our one minor issue resolved within an hour. Absolutely recommend!

Beach week bliss

We had a wonderful week staying at “Island Time”. The house was perfect for our family (3 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs) and the proximity to the beach was unbelievable. The views from every deck were breathtaking, my kids loved the pool, little details in the house were a pleasure to witness and communicating with Steve was effortless. Thanks for a great week. We will definitely be back!

Loved staying at Island Time!!!

We had a great time. This is the first time we have ever booked a house and it far exceeded our expectations! It was our grandkids first trip to the ocean and they loved it. We loved the pool and hot tub. We spent more time in them than I thought we would. Everything was very clean and well organized. The washer and dryer was a very good feature as we did laundry while we were at the pool and had less to wash when we got home. The kitchen was well equipped, we had pasta night and we even made cookies with kids one night! We all loved it and didn't want to leave!!! We will definitely be back!!!Thank You!!!

Perfect Beach House

Island Times is the perfect vacation home for our family of 5 + 1 Golden Retriever. We have visited many of the east coast beaches, but this is the only home we've visited in back to back years. It's not overly fancy, but it is exactly what a beach house should be; clean, comfortable, well equipped and perfectly sistuated. I spent the whole winter looking for homes that have better amenities and I have to say Island Times may be the best value out there. You can't find too many 4 bedroom homes in this price range that are this close the beach, with a pool, hot tub, etc. (Don't get me wrong, prices have gotten outrageous, but so have prices for everything else.) While it's not beach front, it is a very short walk to the beach and the pier where my son fished all week long. It may even be a shorter walk to the beach than some beach front homes we've stayed in. Bedrooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could ask for to cook at home. The pool is large and there are decks at every level to either take in or get out of the sun. Perfect for Us! Little Nit Picks As anyone who's been to the Outerbanks understands it is always windy. Because of this, and the fact that 5 people are using it daily, the pool gets pretty dirty by the end of the week. The owner does have a net that we used daily, but it would be great to have a mid week cleaning or some other way for renters to keep the pool clean.

Wish we had known

To start, this house for July 4 week was $6000+ which was comparable to other similar properties that are within sight of the beach and have a pool.The BR are a nice size and beds are comfortable. The outdoor decks and pool are great. That’s all the good stuff. A day into the trip we saw our first cockroach. Then more crawling around the dishwasher. Bugs happen at the beach and we know that. Steve was on it right away and got someone out to spray the next day. It diminished the problem but didn’t eliminate it. We kept the trash on the screened in porch and didn’t leave food out. The biggest negative to this house though is the location. While it is close to the beach, this particular section of beach is being retaken by the ocean. Google “Rodanthe falling into the ocean” and you will see a local news story about a house at the end of this street falling into the ocean. Several of the houses at the end of the street are condemned and look like an eyesore compared to what you want when you are paying almost $1000/night. Worse than that is the flooding. In the Thursday night high tide the water came up the street and filled in shin high under the deck. We came back from viewing fireworks and had to wade through it. There was no storm, just high tide. Steve hasn’t offered to refund any of our money and none of this is disclosed so renters beware. I suspect you can find a similar house that isn’t on this particular street.

Great house, great memories made!

We had a great time at this house. This was our 2nd year there and it didnt disappoint. It has plenty of space for the family. We made great use of all of the decks with great views. On one side of the house you can see the sunrise and the other the sunset. It has a great pool that felt great on those hot days. The beach is just a short walk away and was wonderful. We enjoyed going to the pier each night for live music. The kitchen has all you need to cook at home. Steve was very responsive and kind when there was a minor maintenance issue that popped up. All in all I would highly recommend this house and hope to come back again!

Awesome Views, Great House, Great Host

Even though this location is technically not on the ocean; it sure feels like it. We loved sitting on the deck watching and hearing the waves crash on shore. The kids were in the pool twice a day. Beds were comfortable; kitchen is recently updated and has newer appliances and well stocked with silverware and plates for our family. Steve was very good with communicating and answering questions. Overall; we were very happy with our first visit to OBX and will return again.

Great location in Rodanthe with easy access to beach.

My family enjoyed our vacation at Island Time in Rodanthe. The house was the perfect size and location for our family of 4, and our dog. We enjoyed the ocean views from multiple decks on the home, and the easy access to the beach. The private pool was a nice and relaxing reprieve after the hot and sunny days at the beach. The Owner, Steve, was very responsive and quickly addressed a minor issue we were having getting the AC to kick on. It was easily resolved and we had no more issues throughout our trip. I would definitely recommend Island Time to other families who are planning a vacation to the Outer Banks.

Can't wait to return!

Island Time was the perfect spot for our OBX beach vacation. The house was just the right size for our group ( 6 adults, 1 infant, 1 dog).. more would have been tight. The pool was comfortable break from the beach.... and the beach was so close!!! We could easily come back for naps and to check on the dog.The hottub took us a bit to get the right temp , but once we did it was delightful.. especially on a rainy afternoon. A couple restaurants and coffee shops were an easy walking distance.. we cooked several dinners and breakfast each day and the kitchen had more than everything we needed. For grilling it is a simple charcoal grill, but it worked well for burgers and chicken. We stayed right in the middle of the summer, so there was a bit of sand accumulated in the house, but super clean for a pet /beach rental and I cant wait to get back to Island Time!

I would 💯 stay here again. The house is like being at home . The beds are super comfortable. We were able to bring our little dogs and had our very own pool , which was so nice and a hop skip and a jump from the ocean . Also the local coffee shops and restaurants are very close .

Excellent family vacation spot

We were so pleased with our stay at Island Time! The house was located close to the beach (like a block away: 2-3 min walk) and had everything you needed basically. The kitchen was stocked with all the basics and then some, that you would need to cook. The decor was beachy and inviting. The pool was amazing! We didnt use the hot tub, but it looked great and inviting. We had 7 people and 2 dogs in the house and it never felt crowded. The outdoor deck space was the best...beautiful views of the ocean and sunrise and sunsets. I think the decks were the dogs favorite spaces too, with gates on them so they could roam freely. The area was family friendly and not over crowded. Overall, we would highly recommend this house and hope to come back and stay again soon!
