Fabulous Ocean View, Walking Distance to the Beach

Villa Veranera is a 1-bedroom, 1-bath luxury villa with spectacular views overlooking Samara and Carrillo Bays.

Hear the sounds of the surf with gentle sea breezes sifting through, with monkeys, birds and nature in a tropical setting. “Veranera” is the Spanish word for “Bougainvillea” and the property is surrounded with these beautiful flowers.

Location is an approx. 3 min. drive or 10-15 min. walk to the beach and a 5 min. drive or additional 10-min. walk to town. Distance to the beach is 7/10ths of a mile or 1.1 kms.

Private shuttle pick-ups can be arranged from both International Airports.

Disinfecting and sanitizing of the unit is done between each stay.

Lovely Safe Feeling Location

This was the perfect place to escape the crowded beach of Samara, get a lovely reset and then go back down to enjoy the restaurants - sunrises and sunset horseback riding! :)

Beautiful View

Stunning view and incredibly friendly hosts! We really enjoyed our stay here. The VRBO app did show the house’s location to be very close to downtown Samara… but it was actually about a 5-10 minute drive. Other than the location being a little different than expected, everything else exceeded expectations! Would stay again!

VENI, VIDI, VICHI, - We came, we saw, we were smitten by the picture which presented our view. Casa Veranera is delightful, the garden and pool are picturesque and the view over the hills and valley and the beaches and ocean – whoa! But the best was our hosts Larry and Sherry. We came as guests and left as friends. Always helpful and accommodating, not to mention the happy hours – exchanging life’s stores and journeys. Watching the morning glow and sunrise or the crimson colours of the sunsets or the constellations of the night sky while we were cooling off in the pool – what a beauty. Plunging in the pool, standing by the ledge, I felt like the king of the castle looking down over the realm. Carrillo Beach was our favorite, by 8:30 a.m. still deserted, by noon it was “crowded” with about 30 people over the 4 km stretch of fine pale grey/golden sand. The centre of Samara Beach is where the action is with surfers and bronzed bodies but the south beach is more pristine and the place to watch the sun sinking into the ocean. Unless you are the sporty, adventurous type riding buses or bicycles to explore the back country, rent an SUV!! Even in the dry season. Al Manglar became our favorite restaurant. Authentic Italian pizza and gnocchi to die for!And then there are the howler monkeys – first it sounded like wild dogs, but it grows on you. And they came visiting, hanging out in the trees close to the pool. I seems it is the Alpha Male which bellows out their presence while the rest of the family snoozes – except the 3 babies which were playful. Sitting on the balcony I counted about 15 species of birds – and during my walk-abouts I counted many more.Larry and Sherry, thanks for your hospitality and sharing this piece of paradise with us. We will take home with us many wonderful memories – but right now it’s time to dip into the refreshing pool and then it’s off to Carrillo Beach, the most beautiful in all of Costa Rica (according to FODOR’S).All the best wishes,Gerhard and Valerie PaulusBarrie, OntarioP.S. Perfect stay!

Great apartment with a great veranda with a spectacular view of the ocean. A lovely private pool with jungle and ocean views.Great accommodating hosts who are friendly and kind. The apartment is clean, comfortable and well appointed. It is located close to town and up on a hill.

Left my heart in Sámara

Communication with Larry- perfect! Property was impeccably kept. Sounds of nature and peace echoed day and night. Views from a postcard. Conversations at happy hour- priceless. Advice for food and sights- spot on! Wish I could have stayed longer… sincerely left my heart with Sherry and Larry until I return.

Quiet spot with best views to enjoy Samara

The view!!! We really enjoyed getting to know the area from above. We had views for miles, yet it was a quick ride to 2 beaches. The apartment had everything we needed and the hosts were very nice and available for our needs. You can't go wrong with this place!

Very nice location

Sherry and Larry were great hosts and the apartment was a perfect fit. There are beautiful views of the ocean from both the window and balcony, and the neighborhood is quiet, which we really appreciated. It's within minutes of the Samara business district where you can find just about everything a visitor needs. I would definitely stay here again!

Gorgeous apartment outside of Samara

Larry and Sherry were wonderful hosts! The view from the balcony is truly gorgeous , and the apartment is as listed: spacious bedroom, full kitchen, pullout, couch, and pool. Please note that you will need a car to enjoy your stay here. The listing map does not accurately detail how far it is from downtown Sara. However, a parking place is provided and it is a 10 minute drive.

Wonderful retreat

We LOVED staying here. It was a nice reprieve from the town centre and offered a completely different view being up so high. We did book it because it was walking distance to the beach, but I wouldn't really say it is as it's a pretty dusty dirt road a long way down, so the way back up would be pretty intense.

Magical Tropical Perch To the Sea

Magical location with the best perch to enjoy the spectacular view. Better than the pictures! Sherry and Larry were so kind and welcoming and the villa was perfectly set up with lots of space. Even the kitchen has a view. We enjoyed walking to the beach and back every morning and then exploring the rest of the area during the day. Beautiful!

Magnificent!

We had an amazing time at Larry & Sherry’s beautiful guest villa. Every detail of the unit was well thought out and intentional. You can really tell they have put a lot of thought into making sure it’s just right for the guests. It was hard to leave it was so perfect. From the most epic view on the balcony, to the lovely pool and a wonderful happy hour with the hosts, we had a great time. We hope to come back next time we’re in Samara. Fully recommend!!

Second Honeymoon Stay

This was a very special trip for us as we decided to take a second honeymoon and we stayed 12 nights. It was our first trip out of the United States. The view from the balcony was spectacular! Larry and Sherry were wonderful hosts. We SO appreciate them going to Carrillo Beach with us and taking pictures/videoing while we said our renewal vows to each other. That was so special and something we'll never forget. We totally enjoyed them guiding us on a quad ride through the countryside also. What a way to experience the culture and overall beauty of the country. The home was very clean and comfortable. The only problem we experienced was that the refrigerator wasn't working well at all. They tried to get it fixed, but finally had to replace it. They did let us use the small refrigerator in the garage and refunded us some money to make up for the inconvenience. We loved the balcony and private pool! We do recommend a 4-wheel drive as the drive up is partially a rough uphill drive. Nativos Car Rental in Liberia is a great local car rental company and will treat you right. Anibal Morales is the owner and he was fabulous. We went on a few adventures for which both companies picked us up at the house and brought us back. We highly recommend the zipline/sky walk/sky tram tour at Monteverde through the Nature Center in Samara and the dolphin/snorkeling tour through Samara Adventures. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay 2 more weeks!

Anniversary Get Away

We loved our stay in Samara. Sherry and Larry are the absolute best hostess and host. We enjoyed “happy hour” with them on a couple of evenings. The views are amazing and the people of Samara are very friendly and kind!

The View

There is not much to add as all reviews are excellent and this one is no exception. Of course THE VIEW is unbeleivable. The host are the best. If you have issues walking you should rent a car as it's up-hill walking back to the house. We were there 3 weeks so we rented a car from Samara Hot Rental in town and they had the best price. Small car for $70 bucks a day and we drove all over but try to stay on paved road unless you have a 4X4. We stayed overnight different places and all was good. There are lots of restaurant in Samara. If you want to eat cheap go to what they call a SODA. Besides that our two favorite places to eat with good food and resonable price was at the Sheriff behind police station and the one in the food court which I can't remember the name but it's mostly vegan and the salads are really good and big portions. If you have a sweet tooth go to ROOTS bakerry open for breakfast and lunch. A must see is The Carrillo Beach. About 5-10 minutes drive from the house. Whoever designed that beach deserves an award. It's stunning. Every Saturday morning in Samara is the farmers market which is nice. Ticos are very friendly people and proud of there country with good reason. Thank you Larry and Sherry (and Misha) for sharing a piece of your paradise with us.

Simply perfect

We loved everything about our stay: the private pool, the view of the sunset and sunrise from the balcony, the howler monkeys, the location and more. The kitchen was fully equiped, the bed was comfortable and the property was really clean. We did not want to leave.

Such a nice town with a beautiful beach! Larry and Sherry are just lovely and super helpful with everything! Definitely would return on our next visit to Samara! The howler monkeys off the balcony were a real treat too!
