"The rooms, dining area and facilities were in excellent condition. The range of pools with different temperatures was fantastic as the weather changed. Food was freshly cooked and healthy. The tours available were fantastic for the kids, and the dinosaur tour had some really good animatronics for the jurassic park fans"

"My family talked about our wonderful stay here the entire trip. The grounds are incredible! I loved sitting in the rocking chair listening to the man-made waterfall, discovering the rock path with jaw dropping beauty at every turn and enjoying the refreshing pool. The hosts are amazing as well! They truly love showing the place. Breakfast was fantastic and they were so gracious to give us seconds on smoothies. If we are lucky enough to come back to Costa Rica, we know where to stay!"

"This is the second time we’ve stayed at this lovely hotel. It is extremely family friendly. The levels in the pool are great for playing games: the swim bar is fun: the excellent appetizer platter was enough to feed a huge group and was tasty. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. We will be back."

"Nicely decorated simple cabins with a true nature feel. Host was very welcoming and helpful. Loved the little details like the viewing outpost. Out of the main tourist paths which is what I was looking for. "

"Nice clean and safe with options to do around the property. The hot springs were nice and clean and not too many people in the morning. Water falls were also well maintained "

The best area to stay in Santa Cecilia is directly within the town center, particularly near the main square and the road leading to the border crossing.
This central location offers convenient access to local amenities and is the hub of daily life. The area around the main square often features local eateries and small shops. While Santa Cecilia itself is a modest town, staying here provides a practical base for exploring the surrounding natural areas. For solo travelers, it simplifies logistics, as many local buses and shared taxis operate from or near this central point.
For those planning to visit the nearby wildlife refuges or the northern parts of Lake Nicaragua, staying close to the main road heading north is a good option.
When is the best time to go to Santa Cecilia?
The best time to visit Santa Cecilia, Guanacaste, Costa Rica, is during the dry season, which generally runs from December to April.
During these months, you'll experience sunny days, minimal rainfall, and comfortable temperatures, making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the region. The dry season is great for travelers looking to enjoy the beaches, wildlife tours, and adventure sports without interruption from rain.
For those who prefer a slightly greener landscape and fewer crowds, the shoulder months of May and November offer a good balance. While there might be occasional rain showers, they are usually brief, and you can still enjoy many activities at potentially lower prices.
