"We have just returned from a fantastic stay at The Royal. Every member of staff we engaged with were professional and so friendly, a credit to the Hotel. The room was so comfortable and clean with a lovely sea view and the hotel had character and charm . The food was delicious and served in a beautiful dining room. We cannot fault anything and will definitely be returning. Thank you!"

The bedrooms are very tired and but very desirable but clean and comfortable and price reflective - a dog friendly venue - dogs welcome in all spaces. Brilliant !!! the bedrooms are scheduled for renovation November 2025 - if these are going to be designed and completed to the standard of the social spaces then the grand villa hotel will be outstanding and I imagine one of the best wedding venues in North Yorkshire "

"Efficient and friendly check in. Staff very courteous and helpful. Our room was a little tired and old fashioned but clean and comfortable. Bathroom facilities very good. Breakfast buffet food was not particularly hot. I suspect the food server heater was inadequate. Evening meal was excellent, again lovely staff and very reasonable prices. The pool and spa is really superb and well worth using. It's the biggest jacuzzi we've ever seen! Overall a very pleasurable stay. "
