About this property

Scandinavian HideOut for Couples and Families, Firepit, Outdoor Games

  • Something different in the Smokies. The HideOut is an architect-designed cabin built for the kind of trip where you actually unwind — hot tub on the deck, fire pit under the stars, and mountain views from every corner. Modern, private, and packed with things to do inside and out. Five minutes from the National Park, fifteen from Pigeon Forge. The hot tub is always ready.

A Different Kind of Smokies Cabin
The Smokies are full of log cabins. They are not full of buildings like this one. The HideOut was designed from a blank sheet by the owner — an architect-trained designer — and built by local craftspeople over two years. Modern lines, open interiors, and a ridgeline deck facing the valley. Private, quiet, and genuinely unlike anything else in the area.

    The Outdoor Space
The deck runs the full length of the cabin with the hot tub lit and warm before you arrive. A short walk leads to a private fire pit perfect for evenings under the stars. Throw axes, play cornhole, relax in the hammock, or watch a movie on the outdoor projector. There's plenty to do — or nothing at all, if that's the point.

    The Design
White-oiled wood interiors, authentic Eames lounging chairs, and lighting that softens as the sun drops. Heavy cotton linens, premium bath products, and a kitchen set up for a slow morning — espresso, good cookware, and no rushing. A curated record player with a vinyl collection waits for lazy afternoons.

    The View
The cabin sits on its own piece of Wears Valley ridgeline, sited to capture mountain views while keeping the deck private and sheltered. On clear mornings the ridges fade into the distance. On cloudy ones the mist sits in the valley below and you wake up above the weather.

    The Cabin
Perfect for couples, families, and small groups. The primary bedroom has a queen bed with a long view. A second sleeping area has a twin-over-twin trundle — great for two kids or extra guests. The living room has a high-quality convertible sectional that sleeps comfortably as a queen. One full bath finished with the same care as the rest of the house.

    The Tech
Starlink internet running 100–200 Mbps, Google Home voice-controlled lighting and music throughout, and an outdoor projector for movie nights on the deck.

    Where You Are
Wears Valley is the quiet side of the Smokies — five minutes from the Metcalf Bottoms entrance of the National Park and fifteen minutes from Pigeon Forge. The valley road has everything you need: great coffee, a moonshine distillery, a winery, and some of the best local food in the area at Elvira's Cafe.

Traveling with a larger group? Our neighboring cabin AloneTime sits right next door. Book both and we'll coordinate your stays into a private mountain compound experience.

    About Us
We're Alexei and Nicola. Fourteen years hosting in the Smokies, almost 700 guest stays across our small portfolio. The HideOut is the property we're proudest of — Alexei designed it end-to-end. We answer messages quickly and send a curated local guide once you book.

This place was perfect. The location was great for visiting the smokies. Close enough to enjoy the area and far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. The home was extremely well appointed and the host was very thoughtful-great communication and amenities! Just enough soap, dishwasher pods, washer/dryer worked great, etc. The kids loved the hot tub with a tv screen, and the view was amazing! We stayed with three kids (ages 5,8, and 11) and had plenty of room. Highly recommend!

Weekend Getaway

Our family of 4 stayed at Hideout for 2 nights. We really enjoyed our stay. The kids, 4 and 1, had a lot of fun with the outdoor toys, the arcade game and the Roku the tvs inside. The cabin was a mix of mountain cabin and new, modern design. The hosts were also great at communicating with the couple of questions we had. We would love to come back in the future!

Modern cabin perfection

The Scandinavian Hideout was a great modern take on a mountain cabin that fit us perfectly. The cabin met all of our needs and provided a great experience and location in the middle of the tourist areas and the “peaceful side” of the valley. Highly recommended for a couple or small family to set up base camp while exploring all the area has to offer.

Amazing Family Trip

This property was absolutely amazing, very close to the national park. Our family was more into sight seeing and hiking spent a lot of time in the smoky mountains. But also close enough to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, which we did venture out too. This cabin was perfect for my small family two adults and two kids. Hot Tub was nice after a long day. Already planning our next trip to Tennessee. We are already thinking about staying here again because it was that amazing. Thank you!

Peaceful and private yet convenient to many highlights of the Smokies!

My wife and I had a great fall week in the mountains at the Hideout. The cabin was clean, peaceful, relaxing, and had everything we needed to use as a home base for a week of hiking, dining, and taking in all the "peaceful side" of GSMNP has to offer. We wore ourselves out hiking in the park during the day, and returned each night for peaceful recharging for the next day. Reservation and check-in process was a breeze, communication with the host was timely and on point all throughout the process. Thanks for allowing us to use your wonderful property for the week!

A fantastic hideout!

The home feels like a minimalist Frank Lloyd Wright. Everything is perfectly functional without any unnecessary extravagance. The light is excellent (as the windows face East) and the porch is the best feature. We spent countless hours outside, reading, working, playing corn hole, in the hot tub, or just relaxing with a glass of wine. Truly an excellent retreat from the grind of life. Would visit again!

Peaceful retreat

A nice, newly built place to "hideout." It has a miniamalist approach which is a welcome break from some of the over decorated places we've stayed. Ikea is the name of the game here. You definitely feel like you walked into a Swedish villa. A light wooden feel throughout. You could sleep 7 here, but 4 is comfortable. Of note, you can watch the tame bears from the hottub! One to remember, We would rent again!

Comfortable

My husband I spent our 1 year anniversary at this cabin. We had a wonderful time. It’s SUPER CLEAN!!! That’s always a big issue for me. The cabin is a welcome change from the plaid and black bear decorations you see in most cabins. The hot tub and fire pit made our stay even more tranquil.Alex the host responds almost immediately to questions and concerns. Definitely would stay again.
