Blue Waters Unit 8/59 Ronald Ave, Shoal Bay - This cosy unit has the views and the position!

Blue Waters is perfectly located just 300m back from beautiful Shoal Bay Beach and the array of bars, cafes and restaurants which hug the coastline. With crystal clear waters and white sands, Shoal Bay is undoubtedly one of the prettiest coastal towns Australia has to offer on the east coast and the perfect holiday destination. You can hire kayaks, stand up paddle boards (open everyday during the high seasons of school holidays, long weekends and Easter) and bicycles. A short stroll to the eastern end of the bay is the magnificent Tomaree National Park with spectacular views from the top of Mount Tomaree. Facing the Tomaree National Park and headland, you will love the sounds of native birds and hearing the waves crashing gently against the shoreline. Just a 5-minute drive in the opposite direction brings you to Nelson Bay, and Fingal Bay Surf Lifesaving Club is a short drive away (approx. 2.3km) where you will find a surf patrolled swimming area and Learn to Surf Lessons during the warmer months.

This cosy and comfortable top-floor unit has an open plan living area with a TV and glass sliding doors out to a private balcony with stunning views over the bay. It features a kitchen with microwave, fridge/freezer and bar stools, and a dining table adjacent to the kitchen.

The main bedroom has a queen bed with built-in robe, balcony access, a small TV and a pedestal fan, and the other bedroom has a tri-bunk, while the bathroom offers a mini bath tub/shower and toilet. The unit also has an internal laundry with washer and dryer, and undercover parking.

2/10 Terrible

Old and dilapidated
I expected an older property from the photos but the state of the unit was appalling. The master bed is a double not the advertised queen. The door to the master balcony is broken. The lounges are extremely uncomfortable to the point that the floor was more comfortable. The dining chairs were broken and uncomfortable. The DVD player didn't work. The kitchen range hood was broken. The ladder on the bunk bed was broken and dangerous as it easily pulled away from the bunk and is an accident waiting to happen. There is no air con and only a single pedestal fan to provide any cooling.

Modest unit with a good view
Older style unit in a good spot. Don't forget to bring your own linen. It is on the 3rd story with no lift so only suitable if you are good with stairs.

Overpriced
Apart from the amazing view, it was a dreadful place! The reviews were misleading. Beds awful and uncomfortable. Dining chairs very uncomfortable. Windows dirty. Lounge extremely poor and uncomfortable. Curtain bracket missing. Shower way too short. Cutlery dirty. One old small fan heater for whole place. We left one day early because of being such a terrible, old and definitely not value for money place. Never would we recommend this place to anyone

Great location, superb view which more than made up for the dated decor. A fan would have been great

main bedroom
It states that a queen bed in main bedroom and it is only a double as a fitted queen sheet when made up has extra width over.

I want to go back!
Overall was a great place. The sea view is amazing. Great value for money. Fully contained unit. In general the property and furniture is a little bit outdated but we don't really care, it gives it a little bit of character. The only thing is that with those views you would expect a (far) better balcony table and chairs. There's a small water leak in the toilet bowl. And in addition, if you are an environmentalist, you will be worried for the old toilet that wastes so much water when you flush it. There was only one toilet paper roll, and none in the shops... so bring yours. An annoying detail. Also, it would've been great if we could depart after 10 on a Sunday, we were rushing breakfast and had to drive 10 minutes to drop the keys, and another 10 to be back into the bay.

Beautiful views and okay experience
The house was quite clean when we entered, but it is an old house. The furniture and cutlery was a bit old but nonetheless the view was the most important for us. No dishwasher but they had a drier and washer. Literally feels like you’re staying at your grandmas house but with a little renovation the unit would be amazing.

Awesome location
Stayed here for 2 nights with some friends. Great location- easy to walk into town. Beautiful views. Kindof feels like grandma just moved out- lace doilies and aged crockery!! Overall would definitely recommend as long as you don’t mind that things are a bit dated. With a bit of a spring clean and minor update it would be simply amazing.
