"We had an incredible vacation and loved staying at this beautiful home. The setting is private and the back deck is perfect for relaxing and listening to nature. The yard has a slight slant but is not a hill. It was perfect for walking. The fire pit is easy to access. "My wife and I greatly enjoyed our 2 week stay at "The Hermitage Cottage", which is actually a large home on the outskirts of Highlands, NC. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived, and is very spacious with a California King size bed in the master bedroom, (very comfortable) as well as several other large beds, and two bunk beds for kids. "What a hidden gem! On a gorgeous piece of property, this house feels remote yet is a quick drive to downtown Clayton. The home and views are even better than the VRBO listing photos. There are plenty of places for large groups to gather whether in the kitchen, dining room, or enormous porch with expansive views of the mountains.
