It was chosen as I lived in this building nearly 20 years ago and I wanted to show my children where I lived before they were born. They were extremely excited - until we got into the apartment. I have stayed in many different types of accommodation over the years and none have even come close to how horrible this property was. Before we arrived, we got an email with all of the rules - for the most part they were reasonable, but to tell your guests that the accommodation they just paid nearly $400 for was "only for enjoying the view and to sleep" is going a bit far. Now to the condition of the unit. This was quite possibly the most vile, filthy place I have ever stayed in. A thick layer of dust over everything, hastily patched up walls, badly stained carpet, cracked light switches and I don't even know where to start with the bathroom - we felt more clean before we showered. The real kicker though, was the blood on the living/dining area wall. I have photos of everything. The only good thing is the view (hence 2 stars), yet I think that the owners are just relying on that to get them paying guests and hoping that they won't notice the state of the rest of it.
