The room did not have a smoke detector, which is concerning considering the way the lamp in the corner was wired. An ungrounded extension cord is plugged into the bathroom outlet, passes through the door opening, then the lamp is plugged in with a ground lift. This is not a temporary setup - the cord is mounted to the wall. The place is a dump.

GREAT STAY. This is a wonderful old historic (refurbished) downtown building, now a hotel with a tap room and restaurant. Great location. Walking distance to the Amtrak station, a selection of additional restaurants nearby, art galleries and antique shops in the downtown. A lot of western history here. This establishment is a loving work in progress with great potential for the future. As of today everything is fully operational, we wanted for nothing during our stay. Enough modern touches to provide a very comfortable experience. Excellent communications with the staff. Plenty of parking in their private lot. Coffee and microwave provided in the lobby, a referigerator in the room. Highly recommended, you will not find better in Trinidad!
