Serving up some of Perth’s best surf breaks, Scarborough Beach has always been the cool kid among Perth’s urban beaches. A massive redevelopment of the Scarborough foreshore has seen this already iconic beach gain cult status among backpackers, locals and families.

Play mini golf, splash around in the waterpark, go shopping, admire stunning architecture and sculptures, and see Perth’s iconic Swan Bells at Elizabeth Quay. During major community festivals, the precinct comes alive with spectacular shows, yummy street food options and awesome concerts and fireworks shows.

Hillarys Boat Harbour is one of the most popular entertainment spots on Perth’s coastline. It’s home to a sheltered beach, a children’s playground, shops of all kinds, and dozens of restaurants. The harbor was named after a pioneer resident, Bertram John Hillary, who built a boat shed here in the 1930s. The waterfront area has grown to become a major tourist destination.

From football and cricket to the world’s most famous musicians, Optus Stadium hosts premier entertainment year-round. Book a ticket to join up to 60,000 people at the stadium, voted the most beautiful sports facility in the world in the 2019 Prix Versailles international architecture awards. As it’s surrounded by Stadium Park, there’s plenty more to do if you can’t attend an event.

Cottesloe Beach is one of Perth’s best places to spend a hot summer’s day. It has excellent swimming and surfing conditions and clear water. It’s a great beach for families, thanks to its facilities and Surf Life Saving Club. Grab a towel, put on some sunscreen and hit the waves.

Kings Park occupies a 1,000-acre (400-hectare) space right next to Perth’s central business district. It’s home to the stunning State Botanical Gardens, huge trees, large tracts of native scrubland, attractions for kids, cafés, a gift shop, barbecue areas and the State War Memorial.
