This ship is just entering the first lock of Miraflores Locks. The ships wait in the bay near Amador Causeway until a Panamanian captain is taken out to them. Only Panamanian captains may steer a ship through the canal. www.panamaroadrunner.com

This is the Gatun Locks of the Panama Canal. This is one of the greatest man-made wonders in the world. It is very interesting to see the exhibit and watch how the locks work, and watch the ships pass through. There can be as many as 75 ships waiting to go through the Canal!
