Things to do in Lammermoor Beach

Framed by Statue Bay to the north, Double Head to the south, the Coral Sea to the east and the Capricorn Coast National Park to the west, Rosslyn Bay is wonderful all around.

The Capricorn Caves have been a source of excitement and mystery in the Rockhampton region since 1882, when they were discovered and developed by a Norwegian settler. The caves have been entwined with ancient history and the Darumbal Aboriginal people’s traditional lands long before then. A journey through the breathtaking cave realm will unearth some of the region’s fascinating geological mysteries. Go on an exciting geology discovery tour or challenge yourself on the adventure course.

From the Surf Club on its northern end to the children’s playgrounds at the southern tip, the Yeppoon Beach foreshore looks as its inviting as its bay. The whole area has been rejuvenated after a cyclone wreaked havoc along the Capricorn Coast in the summer of 2015 and it now looks better than ever.

Relax on the white-sandy shores of Great Keppel Beach, also known as Fisherman’s Beach, and gaze up at gently swaying palm trees framing the sky. The west-facing beach is met by gentle waves and features a magnificent reef on its southern edge. Experience the beach’s beautifully warm waters and go swimming, snorkeling or diving. Explore nearby Rosslyn Harbour for fantastic waterfront facilities.

Mount Archer National Park is a large woodland reserve that is crowned by forested peaks. Hike to fantastic mountain viewpoints and go for a leisurely stroll through deep valleys and eucalyptus forests. Have a picnic on the summit of Mount Archer and keep watch for some of the park’s endangered wildlife.

Monkey Beach is a gorgeous strip of white sand and cerulean shores facing southwest from Great Keppel Island. Discover the beach’s fringing reef and find beautiful coral gardens and schools of iridescent tropical fish. Wander along the curving coastline and look back toward the Capricorn Coast or follow the island’s network of scenic hiking trails.
