Charming, dog-friendly historical home with gorgeous ocean views

Berni's Ocean View Castle - Home Sweet Homestead

Our calendar is updated in real-time & our nightly rates are accurately displayed. Simply enter your desired dates and click 'Book Now!'

A historic coastal landmark, this Oceanside vacation rental, otherwise known as part of Berni's Castle, is a coastal gem. Once a simple cabin, this vacation home has been lovingly transformed into a stunning beachside getaway!

This beautiful and unique vacation home boasts new paint, furniture, art, and amenities throughout. With architectural design touches like wainscoting, window seats, and large picture windows, your stay here will be filled with ocean views and vintage charm. Settle back into the sectional sofa in the living room for a night of cable or DVDs on the TV.

A small game room has a collection of puzzles and games, as well as majestic views of the Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge. From the built-in window seat, you can curl up with a good book, or watch out the window for migrating gray whales. The old-fashioned pellet stove adds warmth in aesthetics only, as it can quite finicky and does not function reliably.

The gourmet kitchen boasts custom wood cabinetry and a convenient eating bar. In addition, there's a refrigerator, range, dishwasher, blender, mixer, and microwave. Dinner at the dining room table will be accompanied by a view of the ocean. Savor a stunning sunset while you finish the last of the wine. Or, if the weather is nice, head out to the deck for panoramic views. Also outside, there's plenty of room for a crowd if you want to plan an outdoor meal on a warm summer day.

The three bedrooms each have their own style. One has a French country theme and its own private balcony. At night before bed, you can step outside and breathe in some fresh ocean air and in the mornings, there's no better spot to have a cup of coffee or mug of tea.

The second bedroom has another queen bed and great ocean views, while the the third bedroom has two twin beds. This Oregon Coast vacation rental is also dog-friendly with an additional fee. Six guests can comfortably stay at Berni's Home Sweet Homestead Castle, with a maximum occupancy of eight allowed.

Other amenities here include WiFi, a private washer and two dryers, a stereo, CD, and iPod dock and a patio. But probably the best amenity of all is the amazing location, just a five-minute walk from Oceanside's long sandy beach. Fly your kites, beach comb looking for shells, or just spread out a big beach blanket and relax on the sand.

If you work up an appetite, restaurants include Roseanna's Cafe and Brewin' in the Wind coffee house - both are walkable right from your house. Farther out, there are more options in Netarts to the south or Tillamook to the east. If you do head in that direction, you should plan a stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory, along Highway 101, for a tour of the factory, cheese samples, and a snack at the Creamery Cafe.

This Oceanside vacation home is conveniently located south of Rockaway Beach and north of bustling Lincoln City. Ideally situated for day trips all along the north Oregon Coast, or just staying put and wandering Oceanside's long stretch of sand, your whole group will agree that no matter how you spend your time, this is a unique and special coast getaway spot.

What a View!
Went for a short weekend stay with spouse and brother/SIL. Had never been to this part of the OR coast before. Gorgeous and loads of beach space nearby. This space has a good layout with opposing bedrooms/bathrooms and lots of central group space. The patio and view are amazing. Appliances work very well, and I can imagine it would be great for kids also. Things to consider: 1) Bring food, drink and snacks! This area has only 2-3 restaurants with varying hours, and a couple are closed on Sunday. Very limited options there and only one store with any groceries which is in Netarts. If you want to be able to relax and not have to drive constantly, bring in your own stuff. 2) You’re relatively close to the beach, but this neighborhood is on the side of a pretty steep hill. If anyone in your party isn’t in decent shape or has bad knees/hips, etc…you may end up needing your vehicle to go back and forth. 3) There are three parking spots out front, but they are relatively shallow. If you’re driving a truck or something longer than a sedan, be prepared to park in the spots downstairs from the house. They are plenty big, but be prepared for a sturdy stair climb if you park down there. Definitely agree with the owner’s suggestion of unloading stuff first, then move your vehicle down to lower parking. 4) Check the grill before you cook. Not saying it doesn’t work…we decided not to chance it since the burner assembly was so rusted. That is nearly always the case.

Beautiful little spot
House was clean and well outfitted. We were a little surprised to have two other units attached but spot felt private and spacious. We would defiantly rent again.

Disappointed
First, the view is fabulous. Kitchen well appointed. Positive comments end there. Several pieces of furniture are stained or broken. The steps to unit are covered with deed leaves and dirt and are a safety concern.. Windows need cleaning. Bedding old. The stove and dishwasher don't function properly. Due to the price I expected better.

Ants
When we turned down the bed in the evening there was a LOT of body hair in the sheets! Disgusting. We had to strip and wash the bed coverings. Also discovered on the sheets were a few ants. I did not think too much about it at that time. However, the next morning I was greeted w/ several different ant trails streaming across the kitchen counters. I went to the store and bought traps, but they did nothing to curb the infestation. All food (ie chips, ect) had to be kept in the fridge the entire visit. Really a pain. Food prep was not fun having to use counters w/ ants. My daughter who stayed in a different room woke up to a few ants crawling on her. Not pleasant. The home is in an excellent location and has a beautiful view. We enjoyed the outdoor deck and the games that were stocked in the home.

Great View on our favorite Beach
We had such a great time at Bernies Oceanside rental. Nice and spacious, clean and the view was five stars!! One thing I did wish I knew was that this a triplex rental- it your own house rental. There are three units - one above you and one to the left. So privacy wasn’t the best in that when you’re out on the deck there might be others out on their deck above you. The listing could be clearer on that especially for the price you pay. That and we ran out of garbage bags and tried to call vacasa to tell them, however was on hold for over a half hour and gave up. So remember to pack extra garbage bags. Other than those two small hiccups this house was WONDERFUL and I’d totally come here again! My family loved every minute. So t forget to drive up the highway a mile and a half to see Short Beach- that was so magical!

Wonderful stay!
Had a great time staying at Unit 3 this past weekend, with my family, friends, and dog. Beautiful view of the ocean and beach from the dining, kitchen, and deck. Well stocked kitchen that allowed us to skip the restaurants and enjoy home-cooked meals. Close proximity to the beach (uphill climb on the way back but definitely walkable). Lots of board games available and lots of area to chill/relax. Overall enjoyed our stay immensely at Oceanside with this accommodation.

Beautiful Home!
Wonderful, cozy home. Perfect reading nook, and a fabulous table (with a view!) to play games or eat at! A little further away from the beach than we expected, but we just drove to and from when it felt like too much of a drain to walk our three pups. Washer/dryer feature was lovely!

Horrible experience!!
This was an extremely disappointing experience. Please let future guests know that this rental has 2 other rentals above it. The large family above us made it very difficult for us to have a moment of peace. From the time we got there till we left we had nothing but at least 3 children above us running back and forth across the floor. The pans hanging were even rocking because of the floor pounding. Parking is very limited as the rental did state. However, the same large family parked two cars instead of the one per rental stated. We had to knock on their door to have them move one (as there is litterly only one vechicle per rental that can fit) Then we went out for a little bit and came back and a vistor of the family above had parked in our spot. Once again, we had to knock on their door to remove the second vehicle. We contacted Vacassa Rentals and asked if we could possibly check out a day early because of being miserable with the constant pounding and having to knock on other guest's doors. They were not willing to work with us. We could not take it anymore and just left a day early. We paid a lot of money for a three night stay that turned into a two night stay. Never again will we ever rent from Vascassa. They truly did not care about our needs as customers. We vacation quite a few times a year and by far this is the worst rental agency we have ever dealt with.

Goregous view of the ocean!
The view from this property is amazing - lots of big windows to enjoy no matter the time of day. Property was clean and well stocked. Only issues were that unit 3 did not indicate that there are a steep set of concrete stairs to the front door - a little challenge for those with knee issues - and the parking situation was challenging in that additional parking is located on another street down the hill from the structure, which was not clear at all on the directions. It is a bit of a walk to the beach so would not recommend this for anyone who has mobility limitations unless you plan on driving to get to the beach. Overall I would recommend this property!
