"Honestly not worth the money.
Paying around €250 per night off peak, you’re going in expecting a premium top tier experience.
Upon booking we were informed that you have to book an hourly slot for the thermal suite - not great as you’d expect unlimited access from a 5* hotel. The next issue was trying to book this slot lead to no answer on the phone around 5 times and no reply to my direct message nor email. Eventually got one booked over the phone. The spa itself really wasn’t great. Water in the jacuzzi type pool was lukewarm at best. The steam room was out of order and the loungers either weren’t heated or the room was too cold to notice.
Check in was from 16:00 - again very much not impressed with this for a 5* hotel. Possibly the worst point overall because it’s so easily addressable. Checkout was early at 11:00 which taking into account only arriving at 16:00, you’d expect 13:00 checkout to make up for it…
Overall the place was nice and the room was lovely, but for €250 the service was worse than what you’d get for €100 elsewhere. They’ve done the hard parts well in having a lovely place to stay, but have let themselves down very badly with my above points. I’d stay elsewhere for cheaper and spend the money on activities."
"Incredible stay at an authentic castle. Wish we had stayed more than one night. The staff and service was very personal and next level. We loved walking through the castle exploring different spaces. Did a hawk walk and morning walk on the property grounds with blood hounds – both amazing experiences! Definitely worth the splurge."
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, we were so excited to get the chance to stay in a castle, as coming from oz, this is a very rare opportunity, it was very unique & the Renovation they done on this property was beautiful & they still managed to retain the character of the property, it was luxurious, cozy & very clean, the staff were very friendly, yet professional & made us feel very welcome, it was a lovely rural & quiet location, yummy pizza & cool barman, the owners should be very proud of the marvellous job they have done with this beautiful special place, we highly recommend this beautiful place & will definitely be back ☺️☺️🥂"
"Comfortable bed and pillows. Restaurant staff very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping and reception were great too. All in all, highly recommend this hotel."
"Some hits and misses. Check in check out were efficient. Free covered parking was great. Breakfast spread was decent although the varieties don’t change - so can be a challenge if you are staying longer. Room cleaning isn’t up to standard - one day was good another day was poor with water and tissue paper not replenished even though they ran out. There was a super friendly and helpful lady at breakfast - so full of energy … but I unfortunately did not note her name. Attended to any needs you may have which made you feel very welcomed at breakfast."
"Great spot - we needed to get to Dublin airport on final day of a great trip. We were 30 minutes from rental car drop off at DUB.
This place is out on a sprawling property and just lovely. Grass - trees - pathways. The room was just a bit toward small but very useful for a couple. There was a major storm and incredible cold wind at arrival (Storm Beolo). Our in-room heat seemed off. They staff made us priority #1 and came to assist. They brought in a portable heater and repaired the room heater. Greatly appreciated. We were toasty warm very soon.
There were a few younger staff members and each worked hard at smiling and assisting. The veterans seem to set a great example in training them. Good people - all.
We had to get up and go and did not fit the set breakfast hours. So they let us in the dining room to eat the non-cooking items. Cereal and toast - example. This was kind. I am sure the full buffet is good... we saw the set up.
It is not new - it has a lot of updates but does show some age. We would stay her again - no hesitation."
"Pros: Rooms are clean and warm. Nice hot water with good pressure. Great gym included. Filtered water available on every floor. Would stay again.
Cons: Noisy guests can be heard in the hall and adjacent rooms. Shower curtain needs changing. Not big things."
