Secluded, dog-friendly home on 3.5-acres with mountain views & upper deck
Set in three and a half acres of botanical garden quality land and located just a short drive from shopping and city life, this gorgeous, dog-friendly, 1,793 square feet home will be the perfect retreat for a pleasant vacation with your family and closest friends. The location of this home is secluded, however, there are neighbors in the distance. Discover incredible biking and hiking trails nearby. The Sweet Water Reserve is one mile away and has hiking and bike trails. Tucson Mountain Park is two miles away. Golf and fishing are three miles away as well as 'The Loop' bike path.
Our first step out of the downtown and midtown historic areas is this stunning residence handcrafted from locally quarried stone set in the Tucson Mountains. History abounds in this circa 1941 Lazy C Ranch Estates home built by local brothers Richard and Robert Canfield. The remarkable quality of construction of this home is on display with thoughtful details in the stonework, huge rough-hewn gable beams, architectural elements, and the noticeable lack of any cracking. It feels absolutely as solid as the day it was built. The parcel could not be any more beautiful with natural plant species, views in every direction, and privacy.
This lovely retreat offers an upper deck, which is the perfect place for guests to view the entire Tucson area, gorgeous sunrises/sunsets and the beautiful Catalina mountains! Unwind in the living room featuring comfortable furniture strategically placed in front of a Smart TV with cable. The quaint desk is ideal for those who need to work or do homework while staying here. The open kitchen/dining space with a pantry is ideal for more formal family meals. The kitchen has all stainless steel appliances, adding a modern touch to your stay. Some of these appliances include a huge French-door fridge, stove, oven, electric oven, a drip coffee maker, dishwasher, and microwave. There are two bedrooms and both are located on complete opposite sides of the home. The primary bedroom has a desk and an en suite full bathroom with a tub/shower combo.
Things to Know Dog-friendly! Dog bowl included. Streaming services are available for guests, including Hulu, Prime, Netflix, HBO, and Disney+ Snowbird-friendly The fireplace is not available for use

Perfect Desert Getaway!
We used to live in Tucson, we absolutely loved everything this property has to offer. Incredible views, sunsets and sunrises. We could not have stayed at a better place. Truly recommend staying here when you are looking for a desert getaway!
My husband and I enjoyed this unique spot, especially watching the sunrise on the rooftop deck in the mornings. We chose it because of the location to Sweetwater Preserve which was a wonderful biking and hiking spot.
Perfect getaway even if you already live in AZ. It was peaceful and quaint. The house was so clean and comfortable and had everything you need. Enjoyed a fire under the desert stars. We would definitely come again!

Beautiful views and wildlife
The house was just what we were seeking- a desert getaway with a beautiful views and access to wildlife. Roadrunner, quail and javalina were some of the highlights of the visit. The house was very comfortable and had modern fixtures while at the same time giving the feel of stepping into the past. Thank you for a fantastic place to bring my family
This rental was perfect in all respects. Location was ideal for exploring the Tucson region and what it has to offer. Restaurants & shopping were within 5 miles, but the property feels secluded and private and quiet. The house itself had everything we needed, including washer and dryer; good wifi and tv streaming; was clean and comfortable. Saw coyotes, quail, & deer visit the backyard watering hole too....
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved sitting on the back porch and rooftop for morning coffee and happy hour. It feels like the home is in a cactus botanical garden. We were also treated to a family of javelinas that wondered by on several occasions. The home was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely recommend. We look forward to staying again the next time we are in Tucson
I have been telling friends that this is the rare rental that is so much better in person than what you see online. I think because it's hard to describe being surrounded by the desert beauty. There are huge saguaros right outside the house and we saw a pack of coyotes scamper by and a javelina. It was very beautiful and memorable. Everything was clean as well.
The house is well designed and well constructed with split bedrooms, two porches and a rooftop balcony. You have neighbors, but you never see them. This place comes with its own watering hole, so the birds and animals come to you. We delighted in the wildlife who hung around the place, quail, gila woodpeckers, cactus wrens, mourning doves, and other birds, along with rabbits and coyotes. The back porch faces east with beautiful sunrises. The rooftop balcony is great for viewing the stars and the Tucson nighttime skyline. I thought I would spend more time on the balcony, but the back porch was my favorite spot, right by the watering hole. The hosts were very responsive and responded quickly to our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed it and plan to return someday.
Just wanted to drop a quick review on this amazing property we recently stayed at. It was truly magical. The location is ideal, nestled on the rolling hills near Saguaro National Park with dramatic mountain and city view from every angle. The property has mature desert vegetation that the local birds and wildlife like. Had the pleasure of seeing a pack of Javelinas the last day. The house itself has an old Spanish style and charm and was just lovely. We also felt like we had a connection with the owner with all of the flora/fauna books, national park and state park books and maps. Clearly the owner loves nature and exploring and something we also value. We truly loved our time there. Thanks again.

Peaceful Ranch
Our whole family loved the Lazy C Ranch. Clean, full amenities nothing was needed. We cooked, used the oven, refrigerator, and washing machine /dryer. It was a peaceful house with plenty of space in between neighbors/properties. The family enjoyed exploring the fauna and animal life; we saw coyotes, rabbits, birds and quails. Far enough from the “city”, but close enough to the grocery store and eateries (10-15 minutes.) We used the rooftop to see the sun sets, stars and city lights at night. Next time we come by the area, we all agreed we’d return to this rental. Thank you.

Ranch House built in 1941
This property is charming, private and is a wonderful vacation destination. We observed abundant wildlife including coyotes, javelina, deer, jack rabbits, and even a bob cat! The home was nicely decorated in a western theme that added to its charm.
Upon arrival we were contacted by the property management agency inquiring if it was clean. The house itself had been cleaned but the kitchen was dirty. The dishes and pans had chunks of food stuck on them. The open shelves needed to be scrubbed. I informed the agency about this and told them that possibly the dishwasher was not working. This would have been a good time for them to tell us it was broken, that a repairman had been out the week before and he would return when the parts came in. We ran the dishwasher not knowing these things and learned it the hard way. Upon contacting the mgt agency about this they offered to check if we could get a partial refund of cleaning fee, but still haven’t seen it. Other concerns were; DSL internet was slow, on line work from this location was problematic. We also had trouble with a pack rat getting into the engine bay of our car. Overall, it was a great location and charming home that needs a little TLC and a better management agency.
Loved the rooftop deck for morning coffee and evening serenading by coyotes! The house was comfortable and the beds were super comfortable. The close proximity to great hiking trails was nice. Only bummer is that the internet wasn’t working, and I didn’t get great cell service so had to drive somewhere to get enough reception for a work meeting which I had hoped I could do at the house. Other than that it was a good experience, and for the setting and the abundant wildlife I would comeback.
We so enjoyed our stay. Very private and located close to Saguaro and plenty of Tucson amenities.

Amazing house in a great location
We loved staying here! The location is perfect-you’re surrounded by the desert and it feels like you’re in the national park. Sunsets and sunrises from the house were breathtaking. The bedrooms are nicely separated and comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you need. But the location is really the best part: a 10 minute drive to great hiking and a 20 minute drive to Saguaro NP. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat.
This is an amazing experience just outside of Tuscon. The town has a much, much different feeling when you are not confined to downtown. Day and night this property is amazing. The amenities are too notch, and the yard landscaping is out of this world. Would stay again.
