We got a very spacious room with a balcony overlooking the Mekong River. Amenities were superb. Mattress and pillows were comfy and sheets were clean. Only complaint about the room is that the floor was rather dusty and dirty, especially under the furniture and around the legs of chairs. The restaurants serve excellent food. The included breakfast was very nice with a good spread. Yue Yuen Chinese Restaurant served really authentic and delicious Chinese cuisine. We also had dinner at the Lobby Bar and Restaurant and tried some nice Laotian food. While the food and drinks were very good, the experience was marred by a bizarre incident - a young man approached us as we were eating, unfurled a Russian flag, introduced himself as from Russian and said he had something to show us. As he was reaching into his bag, it occurred to us that he could be a security risk. We hastily told him we were not interested and thankfully, he left without causing any trouble. The restaurant staff just stood by and watched the entire incident, and did not intervene. Average maintenance. Breakfast has options, although does not change much over the course of a week. The egg stand at the breakfast serves cold, half-cooked, pre-made omelettes, although the chef was very busy on his phone, for both days I waited there, and could not attend to my request to heat one up. Food at bar is pricy and overly sauced and sweetened. The place could be better cleaned, as I spotted a couple of 6-leg critters in my room and the canteen. Pool was closed during my stay. No speed bumps at the car drop-off area in front of the lobby, and cars race through, so mind when you cross that bridge. Rooms are not very well insulated from noise of adjacent rooms. Mosquitos in the room are a problem, and the tiny incense only seems to make them more hungry.
