The property was beautiful and the neighborhood. The children love the fishing pier and the adults as well. One suggestion is to possibly have a larger trash can for in the kitchen. Or at least two large trash cans outside to take the trash down. It was a beautiful house, and an awesome vacation with family thank you

We had too short a visit. Our Grandson loved to go to the pier nearby. The kitchen appliances were very good grade. The mattresses not the most comfortable. Loved. the the porches morning and night. Too many remotes with indication low batteries and confusing to use the tv.

Third year we've stayed!
We have stayed here for 3 annual vacations in a row and so glad we continue to choose the Blue Heron! The house is spacious, clean, and has a great layout. The screened in upper balcony is amazing not just for the beautiful views but also because the mosquitoes are terrible (everywhere in the area, not just at the house) so it allows you to enjoy outside time without being eaten up. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need to cook basic meals which we did every evening. The sunrise views are stunning over the bay area in front of the house and you can easily see the Wallops launch pad (we saw a rocket launch the first year we were here). Definitely recommend this house!

Great stay
We had a wonderful week. My favorite part of the house was the beautiful second floor screened in porch with beautiful views of water and NASA. The bedrooms were spacious and there were three full bathrooms (only thing I wished for was a hand held shower sprayer). The kitchen had everything we needed. And lot’s of space for the food we brought. The beds were comfortable. We walked to the dock most days and did crabbing for some delicious snacks. Couldn’t really access the water for kayaking but we were able to easily bring the kayak to Assateague and put it in the bay there. We really enjoyed the house and we hope we can go back again next year.

Clean and comfortable!
This was a great space for four adults and 3 teens to rent for the week. In non-COVID times we may have wanted to be a bit closer to Chincoteague as we did have to drive everywhere. But it was also nice to be away from the busier parts once we had gone to the beach, shopping, etc. The house was well stocked and very clean. The linen service was worth it. We also got the chance to see a rocket launch-a great view of Wallops from the neighborhood’s private dock! I would definitely rent this place again, especially if the main purpose of our trip was to have a nice space to spend time with friends/family.

Comfortable home in a quiet area.
We enjoyed our stay at Blue Heron. The house was comfortable and had all we needed. There was ample parking at Tom’s Cove at the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, and we enjoyed a few days on the beach. There are also several nice hiking paths in the refuge (the lighthouse was great to see). Our group included 2 sets of adults and 3 young kids. My review comes from a detail-oriented parent’s perspective. Some things that were negatives to us may not be an issue to others. Cons: -Bright bedrooms. Three bedrooms don’t have only light-filtering shades. Kids woke at sunrise every day. -No screened-in porches. An older review mentions the upstairs balcony being screened-in. The listing doesn’t say it is screened in, so the listing itself is accurate. A screened-in porch would be a great asset considering the notorious bugs in this area. -No teaspoons! Just several large soup spoons. -Needs more dining chairs at the dining table. The table has just 6 chairs (it isn’t the dark wood table shown in the listing, with 4 chairs). There are 2 stools at the bar counter and one armchair in the entry. -Poison ivy is abundant in and along the woods. -Bugs are bad unless it’s shady, cold, and/or windy. Bug spray helps. The bugs aren’t specific to this rental—they’re present throughout the area (though not by the ocean beach!) Pros: -Luggage racks in a few rooms are great for suitcases. -Newer (and huge capacity) washer and dryer. -Nice dishwasher. -Convenient filtered water dispenser and water bottle filler inside refrigerator. -Nice open floor plan downstairs. -Spacious bedrooms. -HVAC with separate upstairs/downstairs zones. -Many extra soft fleece blankets. -Slipcovers on the couches. -Quiet neighborhood. -Pretty scenery. -Tasteful decorations and furniture. -Comfortable beds. Neutral but notable: -Listing implies that are multiple rocking chairs on porches. There is one. -Listing pictures two blue rocking chairs in the upstairs two-twins bedroom. There are no chairs in that room. -Listing shows a black fold-out futon the the upstairs queen bedroom. There is a different wooden-frame couch (futon?) there now. -Listing says it’s 10 minutes to Chincoteague, but it’s more like 15 minutes to the edge of the town and 25-30 minutes to the beach parking by Tom’s Cove. -Slow wifi (but consistently available). -There’s a hose outside. -Manuals for all the appliances throughout the house were readily available.

Would love to come back
The property was very clean. We really enjoyed the home, it's perfect for 2 families with young kids to stay for a vacation. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 downstairs with a door to separate them from the main living area, each area with one with 2 twin beds and one with a queen bed. Layout was well thought out. The kitchen was well stocked with the usual cooking tools, we cooked most meals at home since there's not a ton of restaurants nearby (plus with COVID, we didn't want to dine-in anywhere). The bedrooms were very spacious. The screened in upper porch is great for enjoying fresh air and avoiding mosquitoes. Was one of our favorite parts of the house. We brought outlet covers since our little one is 15 months (I never expected this from the rental agency, just a suggestion for parents of young kids who may read this). The washer and dryer made it so we didn't have to pack a ton of clothes. Chincoteague Island is only about a 15 min drive, we purchased a week access pass and it was perfect. It's valid at the Assateague Island park as well. If you get lucky, your trip might just line up with a rocket launch like ours did! NASA Wallops Island is nearby, the visitor center was closed (assuming due to covid-19) but you can see the launch pads from the neighborhood the house is in. The neighborhood is very quiet, well kept, and walkable. We walked down to the pier several nights, also saw some wild turkeys, and a bald eagle was flying over the water!

Nice time
Rented the Blue Heron for a week with my wife, 2 kids and my parents. Overall, it was a relaxing time. The house is a ten minute drive to Chincoteague Island. A good distance to get away from the hustle and bustle of island traffic and people. I would definitely recommend this place for a family get away.

Beautiful Home and Property!
We met our daughter and grandsons for a family vacation and had a great time! The home is clean and beautifully decorated. Our daughter loves to cook, and the kitchen had everything she needed to do so. The yard is large and flat, and we enjoyed playing with our grandsons outside - flying kites, doing bubbles, playing ball, etc. The house is only 15 minutes from the town of Chincoteague and the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, and we went there every day to see and photograph the wild ponies. A very cool and unexpected surprise -- NASA launched a rocket and we could see it from the front porch! When we return to the area, we will definitely stay at this home again.

A house near peanuts and crabs
Tranquility is filled in the air at this former farm land, where 10 houses are currently built on. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms, counters and floors are specially clean. 11 miles away from the Chincoteague Island, where the tourists are. The front porch is facing a small bay vIew (no sandy beach ). A community fishing pier is good for crabbing. It’s a quiet and relaxing place for city folks to stay, especially you have the nearby wheat fields and peanut fields to look at.

Perfect Christmas Vacation
We needed a quick rental for the holiday as our house was undergoing renovation and we were not having Christmas in the dust. The home was not only readily available, but they were kind enough to leave us a Christmas tree and some decorations. The house was clean, beautiful, comfortable, and the views were breathtaking. Neighborhood felt safe. We had a completely wonderful time as a family. Would definitely recommend.

This beautiful home offered plenty of room for our all of us. It was nice to have so many areas to hang out separately and together. I loved the upstairs porch!
