"The staff were fantastic very friendly, polite and extremely helpful. The room was perfect with a great view of the harbour. The whole hotel was neat and tidy with everything you would need for a great stay. The restaurant has a sea view and the food was perfect. The breakfast is a must a full help yourself buffet with everything you could possibly want and more! Also the hotel has a large car park. I highly recommend this place! "

"The hotel is a striking and unusual building, very handsome, though we would have appreciated better signs - the rooms in the 400s, which had to be accessed through the library, were difficult to find when first arriving. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the location of the hotel, near the seafront sights (the Mary Rose museum, Nelson's flagship Victory, etc) and the ferry ports. Everything clean and well maintained."

"I enjoted my stay at the hotel. The old world experience of staying in a building that was built for people and not for profit was great. The room size was very generous and I felt comfortable. The fittings were all in good order and well maintained. The view of the roof immediately outside the window was not what I had hoped for but it did show that maintainence on the roof was needed. The small beech trees growing on the rafters needs urgent attention. The shower also needs a clear warning...

Professional staff, great food options, right in the town centre and near major groceries, usually open till 8pm. Cons: I find the mattress too firm for my taste. Ok if you like it. "Classic" room might be small for 2. Not much taxis availability around 8-9am cause they all do school runs (!). Limited Uber, but ok if you're flexible with time and can shift more...
