Roe Summer Cottage, Suite A

Summary:

3 Bedroom, 2 Bath in remodeled Victorian.  Come visit the Roe Summer Cottage! In the 1800's Roe Cottage functioned as a summer boarding house.  It fell into disrepair in later years, but we have brought it back to life with a complete renovation. Suite A encompasses the entire ground floor of the building and sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms. 





Through the private entrance you will find an open concept kitchen and living area. The kitchen is stocked with basic dishes, glassware, silverware and cookware.  The living area has comfy seating, a flat screen TV with large cable channel selection. There is a second TV in another bedroom.  The dining area has a large table with seating for 8.  Easy check in with code for entry supplied prior to your arrival.



Two bedrooms each have their own queen beds, the third bedroom has one queen bed and twotwin beds (a trundle bed). Beds are all made with fresh linens for your arrival.  The two full bathrooms are stocked with clean towels and washcloths.  



There is a private driveway with parking for 4 cars, all on a quiet street in downtown Watkins Glen. Roe Summer Cottage is a short walk away from Seneca Lake, Watkins Glen State Park and Franklin Street, Watkins Glen's main thoroughfare.

Watkins Glen has a little bit of everything: A beautiful state park, scenic lakes, wineries, a lovely downtown for shopping and dining, parks with playgrounds and swimming.



Getting Around:

Watkins Glen is a vibrant town with something to offer everyone. Roe Summer Cottage is a short walk from the town's main street, Watkins Glen State Park, Seneca Lake and the Village Marina. Walk the main street and visit the town's wide variety of shops and restaurants, or make the short drive to Watkins Glen International Speedway or the numerous wineries. Much of what Watkins Glen has to offer is within walking distance. Transportation within Watkins Glen State Park is available for a nominal fee, and arrangements can be made for transportation for wine tours and other events by visiting the Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce website

Our unit was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the front porch. The kitchen was clean and had plenty of dishes. It was located in a great area - we could walk to many shops and restaurants. The living area was larger than expected. Highly recommended!

A last-minute trip led us to this great find, which met and exceeded our needs. The location is perfect for walking into town. Note that it sits at a four-way stop, so you'll hear some traffic noise, and it's across from a church with chimes from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.-not an issue for us but worth noting. The only downside was the well-worn bed, which could use an update, as we struggled to find a comfortable spot.

We had two friends stay with us . Four total. There was plenty of room for all of us . Nice big kitchen and plenty of utensils, dinnerware and pots and pans. Made breakfast all three days . Nice refrigerator and dish washer also . Plenty of towels in bathrooms. All in all a great experience except for two small things. The second floor tenants were very loud with their foot traffic. At times sounding like they were jumping up and down and running from room to room. Secondly we were huge Pittsburgh Steeler fans and could not get the game on TV. We will stay again. Thank you the Gibsons

This was one of the most spacious and comfortable VRBOs we’ve stayed in. It was spotlessly clean and the host was incredibly responsive and helpful. We would absolutely stay again! There’s an A/c unit in the main living area and a window unit in one of the bedrooms. There are also tons of fans in the closet, making it just right for a summer stay.

The property was as described. Very nice, very modern, very clean. The are is great. It's a quick walk down to the lake or to the park. Would absolutely stay here again on next trip to the area.

Third visit to this unit which is showing its age. Electric outlets at stove do not work. No hot pads. Floor in first bathroom beginning to sink due to water leakage at shower. Porch in need of repair. Need better instructions for TV. Not everyone is familiar with satellite or under 40 years of age. Nice location but in need of work.

Amazing Location

We just got back from our stay in Watkins Glen. Our primary objective was to go hiking at the state park. Roe Summer Cottage was in an amazing location. It was less than a 5 minute walk to the state park and was very close walking distance to Seneca Lake. All of the shops and restaurants were very close by. It has a nice open floor plan. There are fan for the bedrooms. I could see that it may get warm during the summer months as there is no air conditioning in the bedrooms. The only negative was that I was unable to find linens for the trundle bed (I went to Walmart and bought some) and my own personal opinion is the extra blankets should be updated. Like others have said it is across the street from a church so you will hear the bells go off in the morning. If you are looking for a spacious space that is close to the state park then a stay here is a must! We will definitely be back!!

Nice to have a parking spot and walk to Watkins Glen attractions. Only 5 minute walk to Watkins Glen park entrance North for the Gorge Trail.

Ground Floor Apartment. Promising Property. Modern Ambiance in a Vintage Exterior.

This apartment seems to be a work in progress going in a good direction for modernizing a Victorian interior with nine foot plus ceilings. Taryn was very reachable and responsive during our visit. The open floor plan handled our three generation family quite well. Location convenient to shopping, etc. Beds very comfortable. Kitchen needs bit fuller selection of dishes, pots pans, etc. for cooking full meals and with smaller children's hands in mind. Three nights during sub-zero weather showed the need for a better seal around the front door, a place for wet boots and more aggressive bathroom heating. Steps need a railing also. We imagine the owners are on this already. These items are all easily addressable. We'll be checking with Taryn when we all travel together again because the location was very good for in town stuff and still close to Burdett where we were visiting more family.
