    Exceptional property and host
This is a very charming farmhouse that is spacious, extremely clean, and well equipped with everything for a relaxing stay. Thoughtful extras such as hand milled soaps and a bottle of wine were also provided. The pond was terrific for swimming, the firepit in the backyard was perfect for cool evenings, and the views of the Taconic mountains were wonderful. Alex, proved to be an extraordinarily responsive host - answering all questions by email quickly and helpfully. There are many lovely towns in the area such as Dorset and Wallingford plus quiet country roads for walking and biking that start out the door.

An absolutely beautiful and calming stay
Alex's house is a true gem: a mid-19th century farmhouse that has been beautifully restored and furnished to provide modern comfort without sacrificing any of the charm. The property in August is beautiful, with a sprawling lawn, unobstructed mountain views and plenty of privacy without a feeling of isolation. The hiking and swimming nearby is fabulous. Alex was a responsive host and the house was outfitted with comfortable linens and all the kitchen amenities we needed during a time when staying in was the norm. We would come back here in a heartbeat in any season.

Lovely secluded property with mountain view
Positive experience staying at this property for the weekend. We used the large yard for lawn games and sitting by the pond. No shortage of frogs hopping into the water and beautiful dragonflies flying around. The owner said you can swim in the pond (which also had fountains running) and although it looked shallow and generally clear enough we just could not bring ourselves to swim among the many plants. We ended up swimming at Lake Bomoseen instead which was what we had planned on doing anyway. But having the pond there for ambiance and views was great! House is spacious and well equipped. Bathrooms are newly updated. Fans were provided so we were comfortable both day and night. The kitchen is showing its age but was well equipped and more than okay for our family needs. The owner Alex was excellent throughout the process. He checked in with us to make sure our arrival was okay and that we had what we needed. Both he and the neighbors who help maintain the property were very response when we let them know of an unpleasant smell in the living room. They sprung into action to address it immediately despite us insisting that it wasn’t a big concern of ours and we just wanted to make them aware of it. It was nice to know they cared so much to address it so fast. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend this place to others looking for a weekend getaway in Vermont!
