"Everything about our stay was wonderful, with one disappointing exception on our last day when we requested transportation to the airport. Estrella from the reservations office was rude and dismissive when she informed us that the shuttle transportation had to be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. I explained that I wasn’t aware of this requirement and didn’t recall being informed. She then pulled up a document I had signed and stated, in a condescending tone, that I had been informed and simply hadn’t read it. It’s possible I overlooked that information, as on the date of our arrival, we flew all night (a six-hour flight) from California and were extremely tired. However, I would have appreciated a little understanding and courtesy rather than being made to feel at fault. The rest of the staff, were very helpful & friendly."

"This is truly a wonderful property with top-notch, consistent service. It is always clean and the staff are very helpful. Playacar is a very safe and walkable community with plenty to see and do. It worked out much better for us to be there than in Cancun proper because we're not really into the party scene, and the Playacar area seems a little more family-friendly than the hotel zone in Cancun (although there are still plenty of activities for adults). The restaurants were better than we expected, and we have never experienced a more consistently excellent buffet - either on land or on a cruise ship. The quality and variety of the buffet food is amazing. We feel that for the price, the whole experience at Riu Palace Riviera Maya in Playa del Carmen cannot be beat!"

"More restaurant choices especially for bad weather season. We were stuck with steak house more than we wanted because Italian and Mexican was closed for rain Music at pool was unexpected since all reviews stated non party vibe. Music choices could have been more spa like instead of rave vibes"

"Came here for a solo bday trip. The staff were really attentive and helpful throughout the stay. Often calling to see if I needed anything in the room or at all. The resort was well-maintained and the pools were clean. I had the swim-up room and loved it. The waitress even passed by a few times so I was able to have my drinks at my swim-up patio. Room was very clean. The tub was immaculately clean and deep so I enjoyed a couple soaks in it. Food: Okay unfortunately food experience overall 6/10. I enjoyed the buffets more than the reserved restaurants. There were a couple of the AL la carte restaurants where each dish i received was just not good at all. Big resort, but they have a golf cart that runs every 10 mins, which was an amazing courtesy. They made sure to offer entertainment every night, but it left a bit to be desired. Overall it was a great stay at a beautiful resort with amazing staff. I would recommend."
