Ferocious predators, endangered species and the thrills of an adventure park provide a memorable day out at this popular city zoo.

Enjoy a thrilling adventure in the animal kingdom when you visit Tallinn Zoo. Thousands of animals from hundreds of species are spread across its grounds. These animals are from many parts of the world, including polar bears from the Arctic, black rhinos from Africa and Amur leopard cats from Asia.

Stroll along paths that lead to the animal exhibits. Go to the elephant house for the African elephants and pygmy hippos. Visit the tropical houses to look at exotic birds, crocodiles and other reptiles. At Hawk Mountain, find several bird of prey species, including bearded vultures and eagles. Observe snow leopards and mountain sheep at the Alpinarium and see swans and other water birds glide across the ponds.

Watch animals such as gray seals and poison dart frogs being fed. The schedule of feeding times is posted on the zoo’s official website. For young children in your party, visit the Children's Zoo to see the rabbits, alpacas, pygmy goats, tortoises and other animals. Go to one of the feeding stations and purchase food to give to the goats.

Young people can participate in even more activities at the zoo's adventure park, which is open from May to September and has a separate admission charge. Watch or join your kids in exploring the three adventure paths, which feature zip lines, obstacles, nets and slides. Children between 2 and 7 years old can tackle the hanging bridges, slides and obstacles of the kids park.

The zoo is located about 4 miles (6 kilometers) west of Tallinn. Buses from the city stop at the north and west entrances. If you are driving, park for free at the north entrance. Parking at the west entrance is metered.

Tallinn Zoo is open every day, including national holidays. Indoor exhibitions are closed on Mondays. There is an admission fee, with discounts for families, children, students and senior citizens. Children under the age of 6 get in for free.
