Mt Etna was difficult to climb, not only because of the elevation but because the ground was composed of fine volcanic ash. Think walking on a sandy beach at an incline. We never made it to the top, but this view at the midway point isn't too shabby. #adventure

"It was easy to find the flat and plenty of parking. We stayed at level 3, room no 5. Unfortunately a very strong drainage smell was coming out of the toilet which stunk the bedroom. The curtains won't close. The shower was dirty. We alerted the owner of this who admitted there was a drainage issue in the building that has been causing the smell. He said at 10:30pm at night if we didnt like it we could leave. The next day, despite admitting to the problem the night before he then denied it...

"The location was perfect for what we wanted to do - i.e. see Mt. Etna and visit Taormina. The grounds are landscaped beautifully as the pictures show and the cabin is as small as the pictures suggest. As long as you can use the front deck, as we did, you don't feel too cramped. The 'buffet' breakfast must be something lost in translation. There was a jar of cookies and a basket of packaged pastries but that was it. "Overall experience was great. Staff was friendly, professional and all around great. Lots of outdoor areas to hangout and spend time outside. Pool area was nice. Minibar was stocked with good options and the prices are not bad comparing to other hotels I've stayed. It was almost cheaper to drink from the minibar vs. The actual hotel bar. Pool area was nice but maybe in the busy season it could get growded. Each room has Echo device with Alexa, so you can play music or get other information easily. The room i stayed was clean and good but some things were little outdated and rundown, some USB charging ports by the bed was not working, the thermostat screen and buttons were damaged but i was still able to turn down the temperature, i just couldn't see the actual temperature reading. But because the staff was so great and my stay was great, these things did not bother me. TV channels are all in italian, or at least the 100+ channels i scrolled thru, so if you like watching TV during your stay and don't understand the language, i recommend to bring your own movies or tv shows.
