The Neighborhood:
Your day at Fairview Apartment – Unit 2 starts quietly to the sound of birds, and the island easing into motion. You’re close to both Oneroa Village and Ostend, so there’s plenty nearby without ever needing to rush.
For your morning coffee, stop by The Annex for something smooth and strong, or The Island Coffee Roasters if you prefer the buzz of locals chatting at the counter. If you’re hungry, Little Frog Café in Oneroa serves relaxed breakfasts and good conversation, or you can walk to AkiTō Deli for fresh pastries and quick bites.
Lunch is best with a view, Wai Kitchen looks straight over the bay and does a great poke bowl and flat white (they do the best coffee art), while Fenice nearby offers easy Italian plates under the awnings. For dinner, book a table at The Oyster Inn for island-style seafood, or head slightly inland to Francos in Ostend for handmade pasta and local wine.
If you feel like browsing, Oneroa Village has plenty to explore, pop into Island Gallery for ceramics and local art, The Shed for boutique gifts, and The Tailor and His Lover for soft linen and natural fabrics. Stop by The Island Grocer on your way home to pick up cheese, charcuterie, or a bottle of Waiheke wine for the evening.
A short drive takes you to Mudbrick, Cable Bay, and Casita Miro, each with their own take on vineyard dining. And for something more relaxed, The Heke Kitchen, Brewery & Distillery is always worth a visit, a laid-back mix of great food, craft beer, and a live DJ on Friday afternoons through summer
Getting Around:
Getting around from Fairview Apartment is simple, and part of the fun. The nearest bus stop is only a minute’s walk away, with regular routes connecting the Matiatia ferry, Oneroa Village, and Onetangi Beach.
If you haven’t brought a car, don’t worry, the buses here are part of the island’s rhythm. Jump on, meet a few new people, and make a day of it. The main route winds through Vineyard Valley, stopping right outside many of the top wineries and The Heke Kitchen, Brewery & Distillery, where Friday afternoons roll easily into live music and sunset drinks.
It’s an easy, social way to explore with no parking to think about, no rush, and no need to drive after a bottle of wine.
