"We had a lovely stay at the Cenobio Hotel. It is in an old convent and the architecture is beautiful. We had room 6 which was comprised 2 sleeping areas, with wonderful arched ceilings and built from the original stone. We had a large terrace outside with an incredible view over the gorge.
To get to the hotel, we parked in a car park reserved by the hotel. The hotel then booked us a taxi to collect us from the car park and bring us to the Piazza Duomo which is as near to the hotel as you can get by vehicle. Mario then met us at the taxi and carried our luggage down the 80 steps to the hotel. Check in was swift. Breakfast was continental and simple but fine for our needs. We were easily able to walk into the centre of Matera within a few minutes. We had a lovely stay and would recommend the hotel."
