There are lots of things to see and do in Dubai South, but venture farther afield and you'll find even more magic. Organize a set of wheels and you can roam around the surrounding region at your own speed. Add these awesome drives to your itinerary:

• Abu Dhabi is 55 miles from Dubai South. Notable tourist attractions like Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque should be at the top of your list here.
• Next stop? It has to be Ras Al Khaimah, which is around 80 miles away. Shimal is one local draw card you won't want to miss.
• Spend time in nature and inhale the fresh air at Sir Bani Yas Island Beach. You'll find it about 170 miles from Dubai South.
