A very pleasant country house style hotel. Good staff, pleasant restaurant and well appointed rooms. Relaxing walks in gardens, lovely outdoor areas for a drink in the sunshine.

Whilst the pictures show more modern rooms, the room we had was very dated. Curtains were old, cheap and hanging off, the blind was broken. The bathrooms had really old units that had laminate peeling off and mold in the sealant and grout. The bed was big though and comfortable which was a plus and the size of the room was nice. When we checked in we asked if we had a room in a quiet area which we were basically told no. There was a wedding on and we’d been put directly above it but it was full the second night so I assume they couldn’t move us. The receptionist exacts words ‘you’ll hear the wedding but don’t worry it does stop at 12am’. So we endured loud music and shouting and the smell of smoke until after 12am. The walls are super thin and on the second night our neighbours returned slamming the doors, having an argument and putting their t.v on loud. We could even hear them snoring. Basically I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you want a quiet peaceful night sleep as the hotel is old so noise will travel and weddings will disturb you. We had a drink in the bar one night and dinner in the restaurant. Drinks are limited and they don’t do moctails or seem to have a proper cocktail menu. There didn’t seem to be enough staff on and dinner took a long time and sadly wasn’t worth the wait or price. I’d recommend going into Chester instead. Breakfast was fine but you do have to pay extra if you want a full English.

Blunt receptionist, stunning room
Arrived with my partner to early for check in and was happy to use the spa facility’s while she waited and I went away to a meeting, the girl at reception both at the spa and main reception where very pleasant When I arrived back the blond lady was just so blunt and rude I felt like I did something wrong, demanding information deposits payments set meal time etc. Now I stay in hotels 2 nights a week on average and this was a first, even I went to the room where my partner was and she immediately said when I huffed walking through the door “ was it the blonde one one reception” we both laughed at how pushy and miserable she was, now the hotel, it was great really, upgraded room was splendid and 100% id go back but maybe check in online and a wood the whole passive aggressive conversation with reception Also charge £9 for EV charging which is okay for full electric it’s it’s a plug in hybrid like my XC60 it’s just not worth it to gain 50 miles of range, cheaper to let it self charge, maybe have the option to charge for useage not generic fee

Terrible!!! Hotel is dated and dirty, my room had marks all over the floor and walls, bathroom was ok. The bar staff could not be both to be there to serve and were not very helpful. As for breakfast, my egg were cold and the pancakes were cold and hard! AVOID this place there are plenty of much nicer/ same priced hotels in and around Chester and main motorways.

Ideal for a luxury weekend away. Staff professional but relaxed and welcoming. Unpretentious ambiance. Breakfast and dinner high quality. Spa and swimming pool an added bonus. Location ideal for visiting Chester (close to Park and Ride) or the Welsh borders.

the property is overall a lovely place, in a nice secluded area. The only issues we found was, the hotel doesn’t have a lift & the spa is only accessible for 4 years old and up. the hotel was informed proir that we were coming with a under 1 year old, and we were told on arrival there wasn’t a lift, and we were put on the top floor of the hotel, with 2 flights of stairs. we had to lift his pram up, the whole time. Not safe and the were stairs were small. I feel if the hotel looked into the reservation more they would of been a little more understanding when it came to putting families with children especially under 1, on the top floor on the hotel, with no lift. if you wanting to spend the day in Cheshire, or the designed outlet it’s a good place to stay. just think before booking.

What a find
Stayed nearby this hotel previously without knowing it existed, what a find! After a wonderful but cold day at Chester Zoo one of the lovely staff checked me in and I had a welcome cuppa in my spacious room before warming up further in the beautiful spa area- good sized swimming pool, sauna and steam room- temperature in the steam room a little hot and members there said they would mention as this was not usual. Finished the day with a delicious steak sandwich in the comfortable bar area, served by another friendly member of staff, before a superb night's sleep. Breakfast the next morning was excellent- good continental choice of cereals, yogurt, fruit, pastries and fruit juices, and hot items to order included - bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs followed by mixed toast with preserves from the selection displayed in a miniature jar tree on each table. Coffee was provided in an elegant stainless steel jug so remained hot for top ups, and the room had a very relaxed feel with background music at the right level. Staff said how much they enjoy working there and you could sense the pride in what it has to offer, including the gardens they told me to make sure I visited before I left; stunning, even at this time of year. Lawns, herbaceous beds, home grown produce, woodland and ponds - birds singing and clumps of snowdrops in the winter sunshine. Amazing. (The minor mark down -original windows in the bedroom mean there is condensation inside- maybe unfair to mention but honest.)
