Follow the 0.9-mile (1.4-kilometer) Zara Cliff Walk to reach the viewing platform. It is fairly straightforward and accessible for the whole family. Listen to the piercing calls of Tristram’s starlings, as they soar across the valley. Try to find a cute-looking hyrax, which seems like a cross between a rabbit and a guinea pig. Bring binoculars and cameras to fully appreciate the glorious panorama, which incorporates the Dead Sea basin and the Jordan Rift Valley. The view is particularly special at sunrise and sunset, when the surrounding mountains appear to turn golden. Stay into the evening to see the bright lights of Jerusalem in the distance.
