"I had a lovely stay at Englands Gate Inn coachhouse. the staff were really helpful and were accomodating of my visual impairment. Breakfast was good. the meals were lovely. i'll be back again. the room was also very comfortable and spacious."

"Car park is small and shared with the riverside cafe so can be full when you need to park. Bar area, eating area ok also good selection of beers. Accommodation is upstairs and it wasn't until the evening until noticed a problem. The rooms look out directly onto the outdoor roof terrace. If you wanted to open your window you would have people sat right outside of it!!. You had to close the window curtain/blind for privacy. No chance of getting sleep as the extremely loud drunken guests frequenting the pub/hotel come and go until closing time. Room extremely hot, fan provided so little sleep between this and the loud drunken guests on the roof terrace. Food don't bother unless you want a burger and that is all you will get. Breakfast is extra and charged at £10 and not the best quality. For starters not butchers sausage, bacon wafer thin. Not worth the money. On plus side staff at bar helpful and could not be faulted when checking in. Room was clean and large. Would not recommend or stay again."

Overheard guests complaining to the management over lack of room cleaning, no clean towels, no beds being made, rooms not serviced at all.. there were multiple guests complaining. Parking was great, very convenient. We didn't use the bar or have breakfast, I wouldn't stay again."

"Only reason I didn’t give this lovely quaint place 5* was I found the lady on reception when we arrived ahead a bit “curt” no hello how can I help you, just told us check in isn’t until 3 o’clock so to come back then, the next lady was lovely btw. I also don’t know if we timed it wrong but breakfast was a little chaotic, the only table we could find that hadn’t been cleared wasn't set up for breakfast so we had to request milk, butter, napkins, spoons…but the servers were lovely and accommodating plus this place has a great location and the rooms are impeccable!"

Room and furnishings all looking pretty tired and like they could do with an update, and what looked like mould on the bathroom ceiling presumably due to the lack of ventilation there. "Our room (deluxe double) was nice but incredibly hot, as was the weather. It’s an old building & suffers in the heat. Breakfast was very average. We had to ask for croissants. It was apparently first come first served on the buffet table which seemed a bit bizarre. A request to have hollandaise on the side of my eggs Benedict was ignored. Dinner was ok. Staff were helpful. Reception staff get many gold stars for being so helpful & kind re items I carelessly left in the room. Efficient & scrupulously honest. Thankyou. 😊😊😊"

"My family stayed in 2 superior rooms for one night. There is no lift so luggage has to be carried up the stairs. Room 14 was on the first floor and huge, room 30 was on the second floor and slightly smaller. The shower was over the bathtub with a curtain. The staff in the restaurant and elsewhere were excellent and we enjoyed the food (bearing in mind this is a Greene King, not a Michelin starred restaurant :). There are lovely views from the patio where you can have a drink from the bar. For the price, we were very happy with our stay and would certainly recommend the hotel to others."
