Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Fairy Bay?
The best area to stay in Fairy Bay is along the main waterfront, particularly around the central marina area.

This area is the heart of Fairy Bay, offering direct access to the water and stunning views of the Marlborough Sounds. It's a compact and walkable district with a concentration of accommodations, eateries, and tour operators. The main street, Marine Parade, runs along the waterfront and features many local businesses.

Couples will find this area particularly appealing. The proximity to boat tours departing for the Sounds, the ease of access to waterfront dining with fresh seafood, and the relaxed pace make it an excellent choice for a romantic getaway.
When is the best time to go to Fairy Bay?
The best time to visit Fairy Bay is during the summer months, from December to February, when the weather is warmest and most suitable for outdoor activities.

During this period, you can expect long, sunny days and comfortable temperatures, superb for enjoying the bay's water-based activities like kayaking, swimming, and sailing. The Marlborough region is also known for its vineyards, and summer is an excellent time for wine-tasting tours.

For travelers looking to avoid the peak season crowds while still enjoying pleasant weather, the shoulder months of November and March offer a good balance.
