Hugo is an excellent host and will do everything he can to make your visit enjoyable. His place is amazing and the deck overlooking the harbor is spectacular. There are countless restaurants and things to do just a short wall from his place. If you're driving there's parking available which is extremely helpful. We're looking forward to our next visit.

Very spacious, quirky house with a wonderful terrace and sea views. The house was clean and comfortable in a quiet, elevated area close to the town centre. The enclosed garden area has adequate seating with lots of potted plants. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of crockery, pans, glasses and utensils etc. The bedrooms had plenty of storage for clothes etc and a very comfortable double bed. The house has a large, tiled bathroom with a good sized shower. Hugo the host is a lovely kind, friendly man who tries hard to be helpful when needed. There is a small cafe/bar close by and a small supermarket. There is very restricted on road parking outside the property but spaces are very tight. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, however, people do need to be aware of the 15-20 minute climb up to the property from the centre.

The home was super clean and there were plenty of towels, blankets and pillows for the 3 of us. The two outdoor spaces were marvellous too. A real added bonus. We had a couple of very minor problems but Hugo responded very quickly and dealt with them. The property is on steep hills so walking back up could be very challenging. Parking would also be challenging so definitely ask about the very reasonable parking next door. We were very glad we did.My only negative comment would be that the sofa needs to be replaced. It is nice and large but is too well worn.We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and would book it again without hesitation!

A really fun, quirky property with a great South facing terrace overlooking the marina and cruise ship port. We really enjoyed watching the coming and goings of the super liners. The house is full of interesting art work and is the only place we have ever stayed to have a working wind up gramophone. These little touches help make the stay memorable. Great location close to several great house/garden museums and around 10 minutes walk into Funchal centre. However, it takes longer to walk back up the super steep hills. Hugo, the host was great - really friendly, helpful and hospitable. He even helped with parking for the hire car. On which point, driving and parking around here is extremely challenging!!A really comfortable and enjoyable stay. We had a great time. Thank you.

A wonderful host, a lovely house and a great location

Looking out over old Funchal towards the harbour, the house has panoramic views south over the Atlantic and across Funchal. Hugo, our host, was kind, generous and attentive, leaving us small gifts and treating us to a poncha in nearby Camara de Lobos. Highly recommended for relaxation and location.
