If you are looking for a unique and economical way to enjoy a boat stay, this is it. It is a version of RV camping but on the water. The boat is older so has quirks but if you can camp in a pop up camper you can handle this accommodation. We had a great experience at ‘Take a break in nature’! Kevin was very responsive to inquiries and helpful.
Property was remote and quiet. The entrance (trees) and the sunset was so beautiful and water was quiet. ~2miles of gravel on entry. We fortunately ran into our host & Kevin was very pleasant. Suggestion-to leave instructions on use of the toilet & shower.(turning the water on and off and using the toilet)We did not use the shower. Having the TV on board was a nice amenity, however, it did get cold, we turned on heater provided. It was almost midnight, a fuse blew and we lost all power. It got very cold. There were 4 warm blankets provided. The following day. We reached out to our host via the app with text and email. We received a response within 30 minutes, it took him about 15 minutes to arrive & turned the electric back on. Within an hour, then blew again within minutes. I texted again and he turned it on again turned heater off at that point to prevent it from tripping again. Again, suggestion to leave instructions on what to do in case like things like this happen. We realized it was so cold in the cabin also because the bathroom window was open and we did not open it, the temperature was in the 40s overnight.
Although there was AC, heat, microwave, oven and stove top, toaster we were afraid to use anything for it may trip the breaker again. The bed area was tight, cozy (as expected on a boat), clean, mattress was very soft and fit to adult adults comfortably.
There was a house on the property being rented and another occupied boat next to us. It was an experience. :-)
Stunning sunset from the dock, beautiful setting, the Spanish moss in the trees, this is an iconic piece of property and I will definitely go back!!!! The bed was comfortable and the view was perfect.

Owner had some folks staying at the big house and they blared music both nights we were there, so that took away from the “nature” aspect some, but we saw dolphins, feral hogs, alligators, several species of birds. Otherwise really enjoyed this property. There were dishes in the sink, trash in the trash can inside the boat, and groceries leftover from the previous guests so that made me question cleanliness a bit, but the sheets for the bed were put away in a drawer so I decided they were probably clean. The drive back to the property passes through a powerline right-of-way which has created a disturbance regime that supports many prairie plant species, if you’re into that.
